Ate here Halloween weekend. This used to be fast food place Boston Market. Completely nice and warm now. Great views of Castro street scene. Downside is the noise and crowding factor.

Pros: Views, Food

Cons: Crowding, Noise

I use to love this place for the quality and value but they have just lost it! The attitude of the staff and whatever the cooks are doing, which isn't much, just flushed this place down the drain. Went there one night 30 minutes before closing. It was clear the staff was ready to get out of there A.S.A.P. I ordered pot-roast and a side of spinach...and advertising that your meat is Neimans Ranch is nothing to brag about, that's what Safeways sells...Golden Gate Meat Company is quality. 1-2 minutes at the most after ordering my meal was out. The mashed potatoes were colder than room tempature and the pot-roast was nuked to the max. The spinach was not properly washed, it was full of sand, and cold also. After not touching my meal and sitting there for 15 minutes I was asked if it was not ok, I explained, the spinach was taken off my bill and I asked for a to-go box for the meat to take home to the dog. I paid and sat there for another 15 minutes. I had to go to the bar to ask where my to-go box was and they had thrown it away. I left, and that evening called back to let the manager know I was upset that I had paid for a meal the was discusting and disgarded, he asked me to come back the next night to make it up...I won't even continue...it was worse! If your looking for a great comfort food with fantastic staff and atmosphere in the castro go to 2223! ...or stay home

Cons: Rude staff, poor quality food

Appetizer: Sloppy Joe dip - almost gross. Too sweet, the chips were horrible. Just the whole thing was bad. Flat iron steak was just ok. Mac n cheese was flavorless, not like mine! Overall this place is an overpriced denny's. Sorry, but lets be honest.

Pros: Location?

Cons: Food

I eat here at least once a month and I've never had anything I haven't liked. Favorites are the meatloaf and the macaroni and cheese. It's hard to talk during dinner because it's always crowded and loud, but the food is great. They have good drink specials too if you get there before 7pm.

For the prices, food and drinks are great. Try the duck roll and pumpkin soup. The pork chop was also great. Noisy/loud though!

Pros: food, drink

Cons: noise

If your looking for a great dinner special then go to home on there is a special Every day from 5-6pm ,Three-course prix fixe menu & glass of wine. The happy hour also has 1/2 priced drinks until 7(or was that 7:30) with the drinks at $3.50 a pop I can't remember This is not the place to go if you want peace and quiet cause it's more for socializing with friends(if it's cold try and sit on the patio by the fire but if you want to socialize on a budget get there early and have the dinner special or the must have Niman Ranch burger it's off the hook and it'sonly $10.00(with fries)

I heard a lot about Home before going. I went twice because I wanted to give it a chance. The food was very mediocre and the staff was rude. We waited to be seated when there were plenty of tables that were setup for parties. I would avoid this place and checkout another restaurant in the Castro.

Here's the key to eating at home: Demand seating on the patio and bring friends. It's not really good for dates - but it's great for dinner with a few friends out on the patio (particularly when the fire is going). Let's face it, the food is good - not great. And perhaps a bit overpriced. But for the neighborhood, you won't find much better. I enjoy Home every one in a while. It's a solid staple restaurant.

Pros: Patio

Cons: Food a bit overpriced

I had Dinner once again at Home as I do on a weekly basis if not more. As usuall the staff, from the host to the manager, was exceptional. The food on the other hand has gone way down hill. As with everyother restaurant you get your occassional so so meal. My last 3 or 4 dinning experiences have gone from bad to worse. What is going on with the kitchen staff? What once was a neighborhood restaurant were you could always count on home style cooking has truly left its roots. What's up with the warm peach raddicio salad? That has to be one of the worse side dishes I ever had. My last few dishes have been terrible. I think a restaurant named Home should stick with basic home style dishes and sides. If I want fancy I can venture down the block to Mecca or 2223. Stick to Home style menus and sides, like your mac and cheese. Also why are there no Entree size salads on the menu for dinner? Sometimes I'd like to eat something a bit lighter. I hope the kitchen gets it together. I would truly hate to lose such a nice friendly restaruant in my nieghborhood.

First off, it's probably the best Mac and cheese in SF. Add in the consistently executed comfort food stand bys along with several higher end dishes and you've got a restaurant that scales to most occasions. Bring the kids for an affordable and fast dinner or bring a date and indulge with cocktails, starters, mains and dessert get away for under $100. And a great time to boot! And besides the good looking space, the kicker is that there's an attached (pay) parking lot. Parking in the Castro can be a challenge so you're always covered here if you tire of circling the hood trolling for spots. The down side is that the tables are quite close together and it can get loud. But in all quite worth it! I've dined here 5+ times and have loved it every time...

Pros: Comfort food, Mac and cheese, Parking

Cons: Loud, Crowded
