Food is not worth the price

I went for tea with my daughter and it was totally overpriced. The food was very mediocre although the service was good until the end when I couldn't get the check. When I did get it, they tried to add a 20% gratuity to the check for two people and call it tax. This is just offensive. The idea of a mandatory gratuity on something like tea is really a joke and they tried to say the person who did it was gone so I had to wait 10 minutes to get it fixed.
- Pros: good service
- Cons: way overpriced
Calm and Quiet- just perfect.

I feel so bad for the previous poster! I've been coming to have tea at the King George for about 3 or 4 years now, and have had nothing but wonderful service and great tea. I feel like I'm walking into someone's home; the last time I enjoyed tea here, the gentleman gave us extra goodies. He is a real sweetheart. I usually go on Sunday afternoons, and never have a problem with seating. It's such a calm, quiet room; great respite from the busy streets on a hectic day.
- Pros: Friendly Service, Attention to detail, Handmade goodies
This traditional English tearoom serves breakfast and afternoon tea.

In Short
Situated within easy shopping distance from Union Square, the King George Hotel's tearoom serves tea the mezzanine level on weekends under a portrait of Queen Elizabeth. Weary shoppers and theatergoers fill the small room quickly, munching on accompaniments such as scones, trifles, tea sandwiches and assorted pastries.
Horrible experience, worst service

This was a well planned out December treat for a hard day of shopping. What a complete disappointment. We were ignored by both waiters even though they weren't busy. One waiter obviously went out of his way to ignore us and give preferential treatment to other guests. We were dressed nicer than the other guest so I don't think it was because we disgraced their ambience. Finally we were served by the busgirl who forgot to give us cups. The food was mediocre at best. Waste of time, waste of money.
- Pros: Nothing, Nothing, Nothing
- Cons: , LAME SERVICE, Mediocre food
