Awesomeness!.
I came here for an exhibit called Make Me Scream, or some name that oddly turned me on, considering it was written in a Rocky Horror-ish Font. This place is big!!
I met up with Thomas F, who knew everybody here! He is a stand up guy(even though I think his friends had a misunderstanding about my sexual preference, all good in the hood!) This place is split into 2 sections, I think, I was buzzed by the time I got here. High ceilings with a giant fly hanging overhead, and a full bar with a free water station right next to the bartenders!
There is an elevated DJ booth and a hidden hallway for the bathrooms! It was pretty packed, and you can smoke outside! Uhh I mean..
I will be back here!
Oh and they had a cool alligator skeleton holding a purse, which looks a lot like ZERO from NightMare Before Christmas!!!! Thomas F. did not see this movie so he did not know what I was talking about!…
Do Cool People Still Say "Peeps"?.
I'm a closet tech nerd, therefore I may or may not have been to more than a few nerdy events at 111Minna. Lets just pretend I have.
The gallery is filled with colorful art pieces ranging from beautiful head shots to one eyed geisha's to bull skulls. Their are two rooms for two "parties" to go on or one big one. Us nerds like to get our drink on too, which is satisfied by the two full bars inside.
It's a great place to hold an event, being conveniently close to Market St. I'm sure you will see me their again, hopefully minus the pocket full of business cards and just for a night out with "cool" peeps.
Do cool people still say "peeps"?…
CLUB 1992.

This is an awesome venue! And no, the bartenders are NOT rude!.
Normally I go to 111 Minna on their Wednesday night Happy Hour from 5:30 pm - 10 pm and I have to say, the crowd here is generally pretty chill compared to most other bars/clubs in SF. For those who
say 111 Minna is too superficial, you haven't been to the Bubble Lounge, the North Beach bar scene or even the Marina. Clubs around there are FILLED with yuppies and superficial people. 111 Minna, on the other hand, has a combination of everything, from the enterpreneurs to art students at Academy of Art and the like art schools to the indie crowd to people who work in the financial district to oddball types to people who like to dance in general.
I was reading reviews on this site and I must say, that on the Qool Happy Hour on Wednesdays, there is NO dress code whatsoever. You can even wear sneakers and no one will mind. Plus, a $5.00 cover charge is pretty sweet.
For the reviewer before me who said the bartenders are rude, let me put it this way... They are among some of the coolest bartenders I've met. One time I was waiting for more than 15 minutes for a drink and one of the bartenders apologized for having me wait so long to order something, that he asked me to pay just $4.00 instead of the $8.00 I would have paid for the ticket (probably was a Long Island or Scotch).
One of the specialities of 111 Minna is that on its Wednesday happy hour, some of the best electronica music is played. From DJ Spesh to Jerry Bonham (on occasion) to DJ Hoj, the progressive house music that's spun here is AWESOME.
Plus, going to Qool Happy Hour on Wednesdays, there's usually a pretty decent crowd of women so the chances meeting a single woman at 111 Minna are greater than the Bubble Lounge or the Marina bars.
One last comment... The Qool Group that puts on the music at 111 Minna, they were there at the September '06 Love Parade. Therefore, if you liked the Love Parade, you'll love the crowd at 111 Minna.…
An edgy SoMa art gallery by day; uber-hip club by night..
A red door (and no sign) marks the entrance of this slightly hidden (but no secret) spot. The large, industrial space is offset by two rooms: one for dancing, with a giant dragonfly hanging from the
ceiling; the other more casual, with sofas and ottomans. Both feature bars, DJ stations, hardwood floors and are rife with paintings, photographs and art installations. The concrete walls give off a city-warehouse feel, while the crowd is the definition of urban-intellectual cool.

cool place with one exception. as a club/bar, this place is pretty cool. It is spacious, has plenty of seating if you go at a reasonable time, cool modern-artsy vibe, trendy & goodlooking people, and potent drinks. The only drawback is that the bartenders are not very friendly and take forever to serve you...this is coming from a 20 something girl.…
Best place on a Wednesday. I love this place and the party on Wednesday from 5-10. Best music, cool staff and lots of interesting people. I'd rather go here at 6pm on a Wednesday than go out on a Friday night.
Classic SF!!!!. Ive been going to 111 for the last 10yrs. Cant say enough good stuff about the place. It's been a hub of the art and music scene in SF since before I started going. They host all sorts of events: films, art openings, djs, bands, you name it. Its constantly changing, and different every night of the week. Some nights are off the hook, and other nights are totally chill. If you show up on a packed night and it can be hard to get a drink Other nights are mellow and you can visit with the staff, who have been there for YEARS. (Getting to know the staff on slower nights can make it easier to get a drink when its packed- shhhhh!!! The ONE jerk that WORKED there is GONE!) Check their website or call to see if the vibe du jour is what youre looking for...…
This place oozes style. I've been walking past this place for years thinking it was a private club. It isn't... it's a great find!
Don't waste your time!. 111 Minna could possibly be the worst bar in San Francisco. My night there consisted of a long line at the door, rude workers, snobby people who think they are fashionable, and a ridiculously high cover. This bar was TOO crowded- and in combination with the lack of bar tenders- my party waited 40 minutes to get a drink. A special thanks to the coat check jerk who wouldnt let me back in after I put my foot outside for a split second even though all my friends were still inside. The moral of this story-- I will not be going back to 111 Minna- EVER.…
