Not worth the money
by johnv100
This is a good romantic place to spend a few hours walking arround then have dinner, but to stay for a weekend is NOT worth it. Actually, the food isn't that great either. You have to spend some bucks to stay in a crampy little room, while you can get a much better room at a 5 star hotel some where in SF for the same amount of money.
Simply Magical !

This Is The Place We Tell Everyone They Have To Go! THis place is amazing in so many ways. We tell everyone we know that this is the place to go for an romantic dinner to a special weekend stay. I have stayed here twice in their rooms and dined in the main dinning room many a time. We always take our out of towners here for drinks or drinks and dinner after hiking this lovely surrounding beach and forest area. Truely magical in it's Hobbit/ Rod Steward Maggie May style vibe.
- Pros: Extensive Beer/Wine , Great Food, Huge Romantic Fire
- Cons: Parking on Weekends, Twisty travel to Inn
Between the woods and beach, this romantic spot offers the rustic charm of a 16th-century English country inn.

In Short
The Pelican's central location between Muir Beach and Muir Woods is ideal for wandering off to commune with nature. The nearby shops and historical landmarks also encourage one to get to know the neighboring area and proximity to Marin offers access to off-site dining and wineries. The rooms come with either full or partial canopy beds, private baths and private telephone lines.
Cute pub
by jlr_1974
The rooms here are pricey, but grabbing a pint in the cute first-floor pub is free! Plus, the bar pours a nice pint of McEwan's, and there's great grub (try the cheese plate). The full-service restaurant is more expensive, but very romantic.
Happy memories
by jen2
My husband and I had a delightful stay this July. I especially appreciate the chef for the attention he paid to my food allergy. In general, I find that eating in restaurants is akin to playing Russian roulette. I never know if the staff takes my allergy seriously and am always apprehensive. This was not the case at the Pelican. Shortly after I made my reservation, the chef called me long distance at home to discuss my allergy and assure me that my meal would be safe. He followed through on his word. I was astounded that he had actually prepared a special menu with several appetizer and entree selections. My meal was delicious. I sincerely appreciate his concern and efforts. It was a wonderful visit with many happy memories.
- Pros: romantic, caring, atmospheric
