Absolutely delicious food, pricey but worth it. Great french bistro atmosphere. I would eat there every day if I could!

We stopped in for lunch and I was glad we did. The soup and quiche were very rich, as they should be.
Pros: Wonderful fresh breeze, rich french food
Cons: service was slow

My wife and I recently went to Bistro Jeanty with our little 7 week old baby. The staff from the hostess to our waiter were extremely friendly and accommodating. To start, we ordered Tomato Soup in Puff Pastry, Pike Quenelles with Lobster Sauce and Home Smoked Trout on Potato Salad. These starters were absolutely divine. Main, we had Beef Stew - so tasty and Steak Tartare! my first time... delicious! Thanks to the waiter who encouraged me to try it. For dessert, we had bread pudding and choclate mousse creme brulee. Fantastic food and wonderful service.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
Cons: Nothing

went there for dinner with large group of 12. we got there about 2 hrs before our reservation bc we were done with wine tasting earlier than we planned.. it was memorial weekend night but somehow they got the table for us after 45min of waiting.(which we thought it won't be possible) our waiter was really nice, it was bit crowded and ambience was pretty ok. but food, was really average. filet mignon was undercooked and in every bite i had to get rid of all those pepper "balls" bc they put too much. but side dishes were pretty good. (creamy spinach and popatoes) even though we had a large group service was bit too slow.
Pros: nice staffs

After traveling all over the world, Bistro Jeanty is still my favorite restaurant. The night we went, the appetizer special was fried smelt! Where else could you get such "old school" food! The bartender was excellent. She could make a vodka gimlet from scratch like a pro. The fireplace is so cozy and the waiter was extremely attentive. All of this great service was even on a Saturday night at 8:30! I would recommend Bistro Jeanty to anyone that wants to have an exceptional dining experience for not a lot of money. For appetizers, dinners, dessert, a bottle of wine, and two after dinner drinks our bill was still only $150!
Pros: coq au vin, service, great specials
Cons: nothing

Very nice ambience and wait staff. Overpriced wine list ($50 the cheapest an not very good Zinfandel) and bland food. Tomato soup was OK but too rich. The sauce in the Steak au Poivre was bland and you have to get the fries as an add-on! ($4.50 fries!). The Daube de Boeuf had gristle all over and was not flavorful at all. The accompanying mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a bag. We had tarte tatin for dessert and it tasted like the pastry was burned. I have had better Bistro Fare in Texas. Too bad. I wanted to like it but I just could not do it.

Over the years, the food at Bistro Jeanty has never disappointed me. I have had quenelles in 3 restaurants in Lyon, France, and I could swear that BJ's were lighter and the flavor of the lobster cream sauce more intense. The lamb tongue salad and the smelts are also dishes I look forward to and find it difficult to pass up. Unchanging menu, but that is fine by me, provided the specials continue to mix it up a bit. This is, as far as I know, the only restaurant that serves wine (and good wine) by the carafe. Pity more places don't. Only complaint: noisy and uncomfortable chairs.
Pros: consistent quality, good wine by carafe, quenelles
Cons: noisy diners, flimsy seats

Bistro Jeanty is lovely and the food could not be better. Our waitstaff was courteous and prompt and only the manager's rudeness and irritation at our large group marred the experience. We arranged lunch for a visiting VIP at Bistro Jeanty because of it's superb reputation and location uniquely suited to a day of wine tasting. When our group arrived early for our lunch reservation the manager was openly rude and refused to seat us even 5 minutes early despite the hostess's attempts to accomodate us. Lunch was impeccable once we were seated but first impressions go a long way. If you are looking for a restaurant to impress out of town guests as part of a group, sadly Bistro Jeanty may leave a sour taste despite some of the best food and service in the Bay Area.
Pros: ambiance, excellent food, location
Cons: rude to groups, poor first impression, not accomodating

Chef Jeanty; a native of champagne, has created a real gem in the charming little town of Yountville. No small task when you consider whom his neighbors are. Although they say the charm is by the fire, I suggest having dinner at the bar with the locals. Although the food is exactly what you would expect to see on a bistro menu; it is leagues ahead of almost every bistro I have eaten at; including those in France. But don't get caught ordering a French wine; you'll likely be noted as an imposter in this pro-Napa establishment. Bistro Jeanty is definitely a must do; whether you live here or not.

This is a wonderful bistro which stands tall in the shadow of the French Laundry. This place is perfect for those staying in Yountville, we had a short 3 minute walk to dinner, got in and seated immediately (with a reservation of course). Service was excellent and cheerful. Food, from appetizer to dessert, was excellent.
