Editorial Review for Cottage Grove Inn – by Andrea Lederle

The Scene
In 1996, Cottage Grove Inn began as a venture by three longtime friends and their spouses. The three saw a need for upscale accommodations in the Calistoga area and jumped at the chance to scoop up this shady site just off Calistoga's main street in the heart of wine-and-spa country.

The Details
Instead of one central inn, Cottage Grove is actually a series of unique private cottages nestled in an old grove of elm trees just a short walk from Calistoga's relaxing spas and quaint shops. Standard features include a two-person Jacuzzi soaking tub, double sinks, a CD player and a wood-burning fireplace. Vaulted ceilings with skylights and hardwood floors keep the interiors light and airy. Each cottage has a pretty front porch complete with with wicker rockers. Down comforters and pillows, luxurious robes and fresh-ground coffee make morning lounging mandatory. A Continental breakfast is set out in the main guest lounge.

The Collage Grove Inn thinks of everything. Fireplaces in every cottage, jacuzzi's big enough for two, complimentary wine and cheese every evening; down pillows and comforters; lovely continental breakfast each morning; champagne and wine glasses in the room, champagne buckets for ice; a coffeemaker with local fresh ground coffee; aromatherapy bath products that smell divine; complimentary CD's for your personal CD player; complimentary movies for your personal VCR; candles; skylights; and a staff that couldn't be nicer. I would definitely stay here again.

Incredibly unique experience, great escape to enjoy a most relaxing visit. Service is incredibly friendly, fun wine/cheese tasting from 5-7 followed by an in-room jacuzzi after another tough day of wine tasting. Each cottage is independent so you feel like you are deep in the woods, very private. Free movies, CD's avaliable at the front desk, good selection. Convenient to restaurants and spas in Calistoga.

Pros: Location, Privacy, Friendly
