One star for the service and my overall experience. Stayed here for a wedding. The lobby was nice, free internet in lobby. Courtyard for the ceremony was beautiful! Reception room was long & oddly shaped. Got a suite for $129, with 2 queen beds & a sofa bed. Room was big, 2 tvs, appeared clean, bed was comfy. Bathroom had red spots on the tub & on the ceiling, odd. There was a hole in the wall where the doorknob hits the wall, because there wasn't a door stopper. The tub & the sink wouldn't drain, so you're standing on dirty water during your shower. It drained literally 20 mins AFTER I got out of the shower, & left a mess of suds & hair behind. Ok, minor issues that I can deal with.

But what I really hated about this place was the service. Honestly, I've gotten better service at a Red Roof Inn! We had 5 people in the room, so I called before we arrived to ask for extra towels. Simple request, not provided. I had to dry myself with a tiny face towel. There's no free continental breakfast. So I ordered room service, 3 pancakes with 3 sausages & fruit on the side, for what I thought was $5, as it states on the menu. Turns out, the menu was confusing because on one page it states kids menu, & apparently the kids menu continued to the next page where my pancakes were listed. I didn't realize I was ordering from the kids menu, which is not allowed unless a kid was really eating it. But I ordered by its name, & there was no other items on the menu with that same name, so I don't understand how the lady taking my order didn't catch that I was ordering off the wrong menu to clarify with me. She didn't ask me if I was ordering it for a child either. So the food comes & it turns out to be $17 instead of the $5+tax+tip that I was expecting. My bill looked something like this:

$12 pancakes dish

$13 subtotal

$2.60 tip (automatic 20%)

$1.40 tax

Total = $17

How does a $12 dish come out to be a subtotal of $13? The front desk calls me & explained that to have the fruit & whipped cream on the side costs $1 extra, which they didn't specify on the phone when I ordered it & also didn't list it on the bill. They nickel & dime you every chance they get, hoping you won't notice. The cashier at the Starbucks was rude. He rolled his eyes when my friend asked for a holder so she could bring everything back to the room on her own. It's also $6 for a newspaper there instead of getting it for free at your door. Unbelievable!

FIRST RATE SERVICE AND STAFF!. I recently stayed at the San Mateo Marriott for 4 days on a business trip and was very satisfied with the great accomodations and with the level of service provided by the staff. They were all enthusiastic and very friendly which, lately on my trips, I've found to be quite rare. The wait to check-in was short despite what seemed (at first) to be a long line. The rooms were immaculate. The food was surprisingly good; I went with a server's recommendation each time I dined and did not go wrong once. I didn't like the wine list though; I was surprised by the awful selection they had. The only bottle I wanted they were out of, so I settled on (moderately priced) cocktails and beers. The friendly bartender may as well work on Wall Street for all the stock tips he gave me. I tried all night to make the cocktail waitress smile. She was really attentive and fast but seems to have lost her smile. I don't know why but it felt like quite an accomplishment when I finally made her laugh. Overall The SMM was a great place to stay and I'll definitely be back.

Great. Went here for a conference- great conference rooms, and hotel rooms were quiet and comfortable. Just what I needed, nothing more. Great price.

Stylish upscale airport hotel near SFO.. The Scene
The exterior of this building is a welcoming sight in an area of generic lodgings. It displays an updated Mission style, with red tile roofs and Mediterranean architecture. As for the interior, it offers a daring design not common at an airport business hotel.

The Details
Unlike many of the chains near the runways, this property offers bold, urban design. Whimsical arched red sofas line the lobby, which also houses the Calfornia Grill & Bar and The Marketplace. Spacious guest rooms offer contemporary appointments, large televisions and some great Bay views. Accommodations are known as The Room That Works, as they have been specially designed for business travelers and include two-line phones and data ports. The outdoor pool and fitness center are well above average. The sights of San Francisco are just fifteen minutes away.

Top Notch. My family and I travelled to San Mateo over the Summer. We were impressed by the shuttle service from the Airport and the friendly hotel staff. I'd recommend the San Mateo Marriott to any business or leisure traveller coming to the area.
