quality sushi a little pricey though. This is my back up when I do not want to wait at Sushi Sams. It is a good resturant especially for a quieter atmosphere compared to Sams.

did not like it. i had lunch with some friends and the food was good but i did not like the service. the waiter needs more trainig. also the prices are high. the place is nice.

Great Japanese Food!. Kyoto Sushi is a very good japanese restaurant. The food were tasty and fresh with easy and relaxed environment. The waitress that served our table was friendly and accomodating. I will definitely eat there again.

Great Sushi. Been here couple weeks ago with my family. The mood was great and the waiting was not so bad. Service was good and the food is wonderful. Food was fresh and the service was great, that's what matter to me the most. Overall, it's a go. I would go back definitely.

Very creative and tasty sushi Roll. I had family dinner last night(sunday), I was maze how the service and food tasty so good that we just didn't know about this restuarant. The waitresses were very friendly and service was very porfessional and they must trained very well by the manager or the owner. The Sushi Chef was extraordinary, we had Toro Toro Roll, it was mouth to experience and it just melt it down, Dynamite Special Roll(it's baked) also something everyone need to try.

My family had great dinner and we are definitely coming back to this restaurant again, I don't mind waiting long for such great sushi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Very Slow Service. My husband and I went to eat at Kyoto restaurant tonight (Sunday). While the food was decent, the wait to get it was not. The waitress warned us that there would be a delay. I'm not sure why there was a delay since the restaurant was not packed. After bringing out 3 complimentary edame's, our sushi was still not ready. I was surprised they wouldn't at least try to bring one of the rolls. After spending 1.5 hours in that restaurant, I'm not rushing to go back. I don't have time to wait around for average sushi. The waitesses were pleasant, but the wait was not.

Great place! It's Japanese&Korean cuisine!. I am a very picky J-food eater cuz I am spoiled by my father-in-law. Ever since I moved to San Mateo, I've been looking for a decent J-restaurant, and I couldn't find one (if you've been to down town San Mateo, you'd know how many there are, and I still couldn't find one). Finally, we decided to go to Kyoto, and I regreted so much that I spent so much money & time on these other J-restuarants around here!! The waitresses are all very friendly, they come & serve you promptly, they know when to leave you alone & enjoy your food, and they make you very comfortable. All the staff seems to get along well too, and that might be the reason this place makes the customers come back. Besides the service & environment, the food is great. They give you generous quantity, and the seafood is fresh. More over, it actually has Korean menu, and the food is also good!

The 3rd time we went to Kyoto this week, we found out they have a lot of regular customers, and slowly we are becoming the regular too, I believe, so it shows the quality of this place. I highly recommend this place.

Great Restaurant! Great for groups.. I had to reserve a party for my company lunch in downtown san mateo. A friend of mine told me about Kyoto Restaurant. I made the reservation over the phone and we were seated exactly at the time we arrived. The back rooms were spacious. The food was terrific. Everyone in our office had a great time. The waitresses were extremely friendly and the service was good. The sushi was fresh and tasty. I would recommend the Kyoto roll which has slices of cucumber rolled around the roll.

Great sushi when the right chef is working.... The food is absolutely delicious; however, the service is poor. The waitresses are not very warm and do not make you feel welcome. And if you happen to go later in the evening be ready to be rushed to pay your bill. The owner will stand at your table until you pay your bill (not very appropriate in my view). However, the food is good!!! Pretty disappointing that with such great food you are not given the equal amount of service.
