Tips for Fuji Sukiyaki

One of the best Japanese restaurants on the Peninsula. I grew up eating sushi in San Francisco and when we moved to the Peninsula I thought we would never find any quality sushi restaurants. Fuji Sukiyaki is one of the best for fresh sushi and sashimi I have ever had. We are now regulars and they always treat us like honored guests. Everyone I have recommended Fuji Sukiyaki to is now also a regular. If you are looking for trendy or over-sauced sushi, this is not the place for you. Try the Dragon Roll!

It's like being part of a family.... I happen to be Irish but have a passion for just about all things Japanese, I travel to Japan frequently and do my best to sepak their language. To say that I love sushi is is an understatment. When you visit this restaurant it's like being part of 'Sunny's' extended family. Watch how the kids greet him when they walk in the door. This man is more than just a sushi chef, he's been part of this neighborhood for over 20 years and has build his buisiness of delivering a solid product for a very fair price. If your sushi has to look like a work of art, well maybe you might want to want to find another place. But if you want great quality, fresh seafood, this is your place and, the servings are huge.

User review by nb4. Have been coming here since I was a young child. I don't eat sushi but love the alternatives on the menu. The service staff is eager to please and it is comfortable knowing that it is family run. The atmosphere is fantastic!

worst sushi restaurant ever!. in general, i don't expect much eating at sushi restaurants in the bay area, but this was THE worst sushi/japanese restaurant I've ever eaten at in my whole life. i can't understand how this place could be rated a 9. i guess we should've taken a hint when we realized no one in the restaurant was japanese. Their fish was frozen (there were ice flakes on it) AND old. Fresh fish should be firm, not soft and mushy. The sushi chef doesn't know how to cut the fish either. My tekka maki had the stringy parts of the ahi sticking out and so did the maguro. in addition, the tekka maki was all broken apart. i've had better sushi at fast food sushi places in hawaii and they don't charge $15.95 for 6pcs of tekka maki and 9 pcs of nigiri. I am never eating here again.

Honest sushi. Don't go here looking for plates floating by your table or exotic drinks with umbrellas! Just honest and simply prepared traditional Japanese fare, reasonably priced. The wait staff is eager to please, and the owners are almost always there to keep an eye on things. Sonny, the sushi chef (and co-owner, along with his wife) is happy to offer suggestions as to what's best that day. Even the uni (sea urchin), which I normally avoid, was delicious (after Sonny suggested it was especially sweet that day). My favorite place on the peninsula when I have a craving for sushi.

Great find!. I first ate here at the recommendation by a coworker and I am so glad that I tried it! Excellent quality, generous portion and nice service. A real find!
