Great culinary courses and demonstrations!

by table14 at Citysearch

Tante Marie's Cooking School offers some of the best cooking courses and demonstrations in the Bay Area that I have ever taken. A knowledgeable staff, enthusiastic chefs and superb recipes and techniques make for a wonderful culinary experience. I recently enjoyed the results of one of their professional series courses for a demonstration lunch that could easily have been served at any one of San Francisco's great restaurants. I noted that the instructor made sure each student executed the technique correctly while presenting the dish in an appealing manner. My own cooking demonstration course for a party menu was equally as professional while having fun learning. My fellow participants had a great time too, judging by their comments, as we devoured the last of the dessert course. We are now equipped with new ideas, a higher skill level and will definitely come back for more courses.

If you are cooking for fun or want to cook professionally, this is the culinary school you will want to check out (what calories??). Pass the appetizers, please.

  • Pros: Knowledgeable staff, enthusiastic, use fresh ingredients
  • Cons: Parking is difficult.

French prices novice chefs

by cooksfriend at Citysearch

I attended several cooking classes and one cooking party at Tante Marie and was rather disappointed with the knowledge of the instructor on several ocassions. With the high prices, I expect the instructors to be more knowledgeable than just being able to tell you what the recipes are and where the measuring spoon is!. On two of the ocassions, an older woman with gray hair seemed to be lecturing one of the instructors in the back kitchen while the students were working in the front- Not very professional

  • Pros: Convenient location, Variety of classes
  • Cons: Difficult parking, Expensive, Chef not knowledgable
