Tips for Adventure Cat Sailing Charters

HORRIBLE SERVICE - Do NOT Recommend. Friends and I took the Adventure Cat Sailing Charter, Fireworks Cruise on the 4th of July. The reservations stated that we should arrive at Pier 39, Dock J, 1/2 hour before the departure time and departure time was to be 8:00 pm, so we planned our holiday accordingly.

We arrived at Pier 39, Dock J at 7:30 pm. At approximately 8:10 pm two men from Adventure Cat Sailing Charter came out from the fenced off Dock and in a very unorganized manner, called the names of the people with reservations and handed out tickets. The two men advised us that they were running behind schedule and we would be boarding shortly. About 10 minutes later, one of the men came out again and said that we would not be leaving until 8:45. When one of the waiting customers asks what time the fireworks start, the man said that there was no problem because the fireworks did not start until 9:30, then he returned to the dock. At approximately 8:40 a different man, I believe his name was Angus, opened the gate so we could board and when one of the waiting customers said, "it’s about time" he responded loudly, "you could have stayed home." Wow - What a way to treat our customers! We had been waiting for an hour & fifteen minutes. Waiting - In the cold - Having our time,

our holiday - Wasted!

When we finally boarded, they were still setting out the snacks, so we had to wait for them to finish. After standing in the cold for over an hour, we all wanted some hot coffee with our snack, but when we ordered our drinks, we were told that they did not have any hot beverages. They had no hot beverages, on a boat, at night, on the San Francisco Bay ~ Really. We did not find any of the crew to be friendly, helpful nor did they put any effort into trying to make our very delayed trip pleasurable. The dely was their poor planning, not ours. We all arrived at the time requested. In addition to their hideous service, the bathroom (The Head) was Filthy Dirty. Their reservation receipt says “ trips are non-refundable”, now we know why.

The only reason the cruise was enjoyable, was because the City of San Francisco put on a fabulous fireworks show! We all concluded, that watching the fireworks from the Bay provides a fantastic view, however, we do not recommend going with Adventure Cats Sailing Cruises!!! There are other choices ~ take one of them!

One of the Best Activites in SF. The trip was great! The atmosphere isn't the most romantic date spot, but the fact that its freezing at sunset makes snuggling a must. 1.5 hours is plenty long. Do your nice dinner beforehand, considering what you will look like after having your head blown off as you circle underneath the Golden Gate. The views are spectacular, the crew is really cool, and the boat is big and safe. Can't wait to do it again next year during the heat spell!

Take a high-performance cruise from the Golden Gate to the Bay Bridge.. In Short
Adventure Cat is a 55-foot catamaran, complete with a full bar and a 360-degree, protected viewing area for those who don't like the wind in their faces. With cruises three times daily during summer months from Pier 39, this adventure takes a little prior planning. The sunset cruise includes light hors d'oeurves and fills up quickly, so be sure and call ahead.

still dreaming of this. i took this sail in oct. 01 and it still comes to mind almost daily.the crew was great ,the ownership went way beyond all expectations to accomodate me ,the views were tremendous, its impossable for me to see a picture of SF on tv without remembering the thrill of the wind in the sails .if you can do 1 thing in your visit to SF, this is it ,you see the city ,alcatraz and go under the golden gate bridge ,i cant wait to do it again.
