FUN!.
This place is great! I have stayed here on 3 different occasions over ten years and its been great each time. Get the private rooms, they are still small, but they are comfortable, in a great location, and at a great price.
Every stay I have had there my girlfriend and I have made friends and partaken in the group activities and loved it.
Cheap sleeps and an international clientele at this fun, funky hostel in North Beach..
In Short
Perched on Telegraph Hill, this hostel is an extension of the bus-tour company of the same name and has the same funky, rough-and-tumble character. Dorm rooms for two to six people are equipped with twin beds, linens and desks. The huge lounge, filled with rumpled but comfortable sofas and chairs, lets in natural light through a wall of windows. It has a pool table, TV, books and magazines.
First class operation!. I stayed at the GT in Seattle and the one in San Francisco and I have to say I'm impressed. The staff at both were the friendliest hostel staff I've met in North America. At the San Francisco hostel I arrived on Open Mic night and they threw a big party with nachos and tons of cool people. Overall the performances were great (a couple of acts I didn't dig, but it's an open mic) and the other people there were a blast. I met friends I'll have for a long time and I can't wait to go back.
Green Tortoise.
Great Place. I stayed at a hotel, stayed at the Green Tortoise and what a difference, the Tortoise had more fun people, went on a pub crawl, ate great food that was included in the price and even met a girl.
Damn great fun.
Thanks Green Tortoise!!!!!!
