In Short
The owner of this whimsical and offbeat North Beach shop, who spends half the year digging up treasures in Europe, brings back curios ranging from crumbling, gilded architectural elements to tiny cardboard medicine boxes; vintage Belgian muscle magazines to huge natural history charts; hand-carved wooden hourglasses to decaying religious sculptures. The stock is uniformly quirky, striking, surprisingly affordable and evocative of a somewhat mysterious time and place.

What a great place for strange found objects. If you're looking for something unusual, you should pass by Aria in N. Beach.

i love this place and the best thing about it is that you can find things that are totally unique and one of a kind! this ranging from old wax seals to chests full of beautiful keys, you can feel as if you are in another world. the owner of the store is very helpful and sweet. because he collected all of the antiques he can tell you were he got them and what they are. though there are many things that you may not have a need for, aria is still a wonderful store of amazing antique devices.

Aria Antiques is a somewhat small shop filled with eccentric items (mostly antiques), from posters to dolls, marble and glass eyes to glass models. You won't be able to find much that you can really use here, but that's the best part of it: you'll find a lot of cool things that you never thought existed. For collectors of strange and one-of-a-kind items.

The Extras:
If you catch the owner when he's in San Francisco, give him a list of things to look for on his next buying trip. That's no guarantee he'll find them, but you might end up with something equally bizarre.
Know Before You Go:
The business hours vary, so be sure to call ahead.
