Good location and interesting crowd. I've always found the International as a simple place to enjoy a quick cocktail with a low frills crowd and atmosphere. Know that going into the place. You can always count on meeting interesting people and watching a game on the tv or people walking on the sidewalk. Stick with mixed drinks. The only and miss on this place is the beer out of the draft is not always ice cold.
Poor customer service. It's a shame this was such a nice bright bar with good tv screens, pool table etc. Unfortunately the bartender we had wasn't very customer oriented. She told us the reason there was no coke was because it was Sunday and deliveries are Monday. She could only put a requested sports event on the screen in the back behind the pool table where there were no chairs because there was ONE patron watching another event on the 3 screens near the bar. We had a few drinks and then Happy Hour started at 4 pm but she charged us full price as apparently when she looked at the clock it must have been 3:59 pm.
Oh yeah! The Smiths!. My first week in SF I found this place and found a home. I will always remember the Halloween Nancy Carrigan bartender! Go to the place for her. Forget the retarded fish, the drunks from Bimbo?s and Kennedy?s go for the Stella, the shots of Cazadores and a game liars dice. Don?t forget Sonya the most beautiful women I have come across!!
Weird Location, Great Spot. Just so happen to randomly come across this bar, and found this to be this spot for Happy Hour! $2 Dollar drafts and wells from 4pm-8pm everyday. The place has free pool on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The regulars trickle in at all hours of the day and are friendly as hell. Also, they have some really cute and unique bartenders.
Strong drinks, cool folks. I don't know about a Bud and Miller bar, that review must be old. The International hosts a cool clientel, great looking and very cool barstaff, esp. the Guam Squad, and the strongest drinks in the West (if you get to know the staff). With a new karaoke machine, late nights with Sonya get a little rowdy, and now there's live music on Mondays. Definitely NOT just a sports bar anymore.
A fabulous Dump. Its a strange place and I love it. Where else can you drink that heavily and fit right in? Where else can you see a retarded fish that refuses to die? Where else has karaoke singers doubling as bartenders? Where else would you find that many people who have nothing in common but all know each other really well and get along? Don't touch the carpet though.
it's a bar. It's a bar, that's probably the best way to describe it. When you look in the dictionary under bar, you'd see a picture of this place. it's the most bar-like bar in the area. pool table, darts, bar, tv, lots of regulars, very friendly staff. Across the street from Bimbos so it sometimes gets some people from the shows as they empty out. Great bar to just stop in a get a drink.
