The best pizza delivery I have found in San Francisco.
All of us have been there. Disappointed again, by another lousy delivery pizza. It's doughy, or soggy, or bland. Not at Viva. Pizza at Viva is stone-baked, ensuring a crisp crust that has a crunchy dusting of cornmeal on the bottom. It is not too thick, with just enough substance to carry the perfectly balanced quantities of sauce and blended cheeses. The menu offers a number of pizza selections by name, as well as a build-your-own section and all are availabe in two different sizes. The small pizza would feed two gals or one very hungry man. The large is sufficient for about four people. I am not exaggerating when I say that someone I know likened Viva pizza to, "heroin on a plate."
Not to be overlooked are the rest of the items on the menu. At most pizza joints, these are an afterthought for those who just aren't in the mood for a pizza when feeding a crowd. But Viva is an Italian restaurant that serves pizza, so the back of the menu holds many treasures that are not to be missed. The gnocchi rates above average and there is something about the bolognese sauce that is incredibly "more-ish" (though it needs salt). Veal picatta is another one of their specialties that shines. Even the salads are not run-of-the-mill. It is difficult to make a wrong turn here. Having ordered from Viva more often than I am willing to admit, I can say that their delivery service is reliable 14 out of 15 times, which is better than most in this city. Who knows, one day I might actually go there to the restaurant. But in the meantime, I am quite happy having Viva brought to my doorstep.
Splendido!.
I always have a wonderful dining experiece at Viva. While I limit myself to the delicate pizzas, their other food is wonderful, affordable and very tasty.
The service is always courteous and friendly, especially Maria, and the rest of the staff always helpful and attentive.
Try it, you'll like it!
Good find!.
We decided to try Viva after some aimless wandering, attempting to get a bite to eat when most other places had shut down -- I'm glad we did!
The place is charming and not too loud. Service is good without being overzealous, and the food is great. Recommended: jumbo chicken ravioli and chicken cacciatore.
