Good pub in North Beach with Irish food if you aren't in the mood for Italian.

Celebrate St. Patty's Day in North Beach. It might be in a neighborhood known for Italian restaurants, but this is one Irish pub you won't want to miss on St. Patty's Day. Yes it will be crowded and crazy, but isn't that the reason we go out? The good news is that the crowd spills outside so you won't be stuck in a dark bar, and there are plenty of other options closeby if you want to do a pub crawl!

Very Irish. In the heart of North Beach. Dark atmosphere, but good times. Nice place to meet people and have a nice

cold beer. Watch out for the pirate in the corner.

Unique Irish Pub - a must visit. I worked there as a student over 10 years ago. Best Summer experience ever. Dying to visit the pub and city again. Myles O'Reilly is passionate about welcoming punters and making them feel comfortable. I hope the Fionn the dog is still around too. This is a true Irish pub, always made locals and people travelling through feel homely. They had great traditional Irish meals and a good range of beers and spirits, not to mention the vast amount of duke box tunes.

I'll be back...

Visually stunning North Beach pub and restaurant combines Celtic kitsch and classic tavern decor.. The Scene
Old-World charm comes to life with mahogany woodwork, exquisite stained glass and walls adorned with antique weaponry, Irish-heritage photos and a mural of Guinness-toasting gents. Additional relics are imaginatively presented, giving the space a fresh feel: Vintage oak barrels double as tables and are topped with candle-corked wine bottles, while bodhrans (Celtic drums) are lit from the inside and serve as ceiling lamps.

The Draw
Young hipsters, old-timers and 9-to-5ers toast imported beers, mingle at the bar, and play selections from a classic rock-stocked jukebox, while families take to an adjacent dining room with church-pew benches. The traditional Irish menu offers a plethora of deep-fried seafood starters, including savory crab cakes and excessively battered prawns. Buttery whipped potatoes make tolerating the spotty service worth it, but heaping portions don't save entrees; beef stroganoff and chicken breasts ladled in gravy are only a trifle better than typical pub grub.

Great Food vs. C..........s. Good menu and good food, but....

But I haven't eaten there since we were sitting at the bar having a beer and saw 15-20 c...........s running all over the place. Would hate to see the what was behind the walls.

irishguy. Tried this place out at North beach, after walking a few miles in the city. Its really dark inside but cool. The bartender was a female who could not stop playing with her hair. It nearly drove me batty. The food sucks, avoid at all costs. They do pour a good beer, and the music is good. Ended up enjoying my stay due to the pictures on the wall and the sound system, but avoid the Oysters O'Reilly very skimpy. If you're after a beer try it out but not for dinner.

Great Irish food. The first time I saw the bar, it looked so depressing - just a couple of barflys drinking silently. But that was before dinner time. After then, it starts to liven up.

The beer (Guinness of course) is very good, the Irish food is even better. The hearty, many-grain bread they served me with it was one of the best I've ever eaten.

I wouldn't go if I was in a hurry, because the service can be kind of spotty, but if you have the time, make an evening of it!

Cost-cutting in the kitchen. We've eaten here loads of times over the years. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive as people who walked in after us finish their meals. Our teacups were empty the whole time and our server ignored us (the place was half full). Raspberry pancakes with strawberries were two pancakes with a squiggle of jam and a tiny halved strawberry. I had to go ask for butter and syrup. We ordered two more pots of tea but only hot water arrived--we were told (loudly and sternly) to reuse our old tea bags. Food was average, expensive, and the servers were inattentive and rude. We're not going back.

best irish bar. I stumbled in here hungover as heck for breakfast and a little hair of the dog. Even the breakfast is good, I knew the beers and evening crowd was great...
