DELICIOUS AND FRIENDLY. Whenever I've got guests in town I take them to The House and we all leave feeling well fed and happy with the relatively low cost. Great fish dishes with lots of imaginative pairings, wonderful salads, to-die-for-sandwiches at lunch, and satisfying desserts. The only drawbacks are: too small a space for the number of guests (but everyone's so happy that it still a good experience) and the meal is kind of rushed -- they actually get 4-5 seatings for dinner each night! But The House is still one of my favorite restaurants in The City. Cab-it as the North Beach parking is as bad as it gets. Also, be prepared for encounters with drunks spilling out onto the street from the next-door historic bar.

Insanely popular, don't go without a reservation. Ask the server what they recommend and just go with that, they always know what the best dishes are that day. it's a small restaurant but service is professional and quick. just don't show up without a res you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting in.

best asian inspired experience ever off City Search restaurant suggestions!. We dined here while traveling with friends from Europe after reading reviews & were absolutely thrilled with the experience!! Every single thing we had was perfectly prepared & delicious (and we're picky). The garlic noodles were to die for, all the fish dishes were lovely, tasty & inspired, and the desserts were crazy great (the passionfruit affair was divine.) Highly recommend - even our waitperson was lovely, not in-our-face, and her recommendations were all outstanding. Ok, guess you can tell, we think this place is a keeper! It is very small - which we didn't mind, & we came by cab, so don't know about neighborhood or parking. Prices were reasonable & in line with the quality. Enjoy!

Wonderful food and presentation. Everything was very well done there. From the service, to the presentation to the intimate yet lively atmosphere, to of course the food. They had a great assortment of food to choose from. Reasonably large portions with great flavors in every bite. One can go from sweetness to gingery spiciness in a single bite. I tried the bass, the crab cakes, the salmon roll ~ each one was just divine. The service was very friendly and unpretensious. The restarant was very small so you definitely need to make reservations in advance. You can bring your own bottle of wine too but they have a long list to choose from. I would definitely go back when I'm in SF.

This is my all time FAVORITE restaurant.. This is my all time FAVORITE restaurant. I've never had a dish I didn't like here. My friend took me here for the first time 9 years ago and I haven't stop praising about it since. Their pork chop with a pomergranite sauce is mouth watering. I strongly suggest this dish. Their Prawns and mushroom rice is also to die for. My biggest problem with this restaurant is deciding what to order because I love it so much. Appetizers: The tuna tartare and salmon rolls are really good. Dessert: Blueberry bread pudding.... mmmm....

One problem though! There's an appetizer(?) special I had a few times (deep fried soft shell crab w/ a little pasta on the side). This needs to be on the menu permanently!

Consistently great food. Rarely do I go to a restaurant where each visit tops the last, but this is the case with this one. I love trying new dishes here and make it a point to only go with people who share! Unfortunately I agree that the service is not quite of the same caliber as the food. They just seem overly busy for some reason. I also was pretty disgusted by the restroom on my last visit.

Jewel of North Beach. The House is the jewel of North Beach. Their inventive menu has a great mix and you won't be disappointed. Flavors are well balanced and the food is cooked to perfection. The House specials are delicious, but if you would prefer to order off of the menu, the sea bass is a must try! Their staff is knowledgable and will offer a great dining experience.

Best Pan-Asian Food in San Francisco. Reservation is key!! Our hotel got us a reservation a few hours before we head to the restaurant. When we got there, the place was so small but very quaint. There was a long line of about 15 people ahead of us.

We thought there's no way we're getting in. Luckily, our reservation was like magic. We got the next table that opened up and was able to cut through the line. Yes, my husband and I were extremely hungry at the time. The food served to us tasted like heaven. It was so darn good. Seared Ahi special is a must have! It melts in our mouths like butter. Mango salad was delish! Service was great. Seating was prompt. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, it truly felt happy because the food was extremely tasty. The House made us happy for the rest of the night. No wonder it made number 1 on Best of Citysearch in Feb! So goood!

Excellent Fusion. My husband and I were in San Fran for a couple of weeks, and this was one of the best meals we had, hands down, and it was the least expensive! The staff were attentive and kind, and the food was outstanding. We're in town a couple of times a year. Can't believe it took us this long to find this hidden gem.

Delcious Food, Chill atmosphere and Great Service. I ate at The House last night with a friend who was visiting from out of town. Everything was wonderful! We ordered the white shrimp and chive dumplings as a starter which was good. The waiter told us about the entree specials, one which was a dish with Kobe beef. I was not interested in the veggies and rice that accompanied it, so the waiter suggested that I order the warm wasabi house noodles dish and that he would switch out the angus flat iron for the kobe. Well, the dish was delicious and I was so pleased that the waiter had made this suggestion. We also got the seabass which was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. For dessert we got the special which was a warmed peach and cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream... i left not a morsel in the bowl. I look forward to going back to the House and trying some more of their delightful dishes.
