Great place to be. My partner and I enjoy visiting the restaurant every time we are in San Francisco. Excellent experience with the staff. Lalo is always very attentive with all the guest. It's always a pleasure to visit. Great food we enjoy it very much.

Excellent!. The atmosphere and attitude of this restaurant was astounding. The waiters, the manager, everyone had a great sense of humor, were very enthusiastic, and, of course, were all Italiano. The food was top notch, a very authentic Italian cuisine. I could not recommend this place highly enough. I had a great time while I was there, was attended to very well, and was constantly entertained by the manager's friendly, over-enthusiastic attitude. This restaurant is a place that you must go to next time you are in San Francisco!

Lucky Find. A group of 6 stumbled upon this restaurant and had no idea what to expect. The staff was very friendly and set up a table. Cocktails, Wine and Food were excellent and the wait staff was very friendly. We enjoyed hearing about the history, favorite dishes and nice wine selection.

Best Italian in Town. The oldest Italian restaurant in America! If nothing this place deserves 5 stars for remaining as an institution. But that should not mean the food is mediocre. Far from that, I've had the best veal dishes (marsala & picatta) and home made pastas at this place. Service is professional yet friendly.

I got to meet Chef Gianni during my last dinner who gave us some great wine recommendations.

Place is decorated with some of the greatest b/w pictures from the early 1900's reflecting the history of San Francisco and that era.

Fior d'Italia is definitely on top of my list for authentic Italian food!

Great place to dine!. Fior D'Italia was fabulous! The decor is beautiful and the staff is friendly and welcoming, makes you feel like home. The food is one of the best italian I've eaten, I loved the cheese tortellini that was served before the main dish. I had a filet migon, it was tasty, cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. My husband had veal and loved it. We can't wait to go back again.

Back again and still GREAT!. First, the Fior d?Italia made us a great offer. For an additional $6 they let you turn your entree into a four course Italian feast. They gave us soup, salad and dessert for $6. Wow. Even without that our experience at Fior d?Italia was the best ever. Our waitress was so professional and helpful. Service was extraordinary and the food superb! What a great night that reminds you of what dining and service used to be in San Francisco. Too many times now we have been disappointed with ?yuppie? food and a server who wants only to be our friend- ?hi I?m Sally I?ll be taking care of you tonight?. Sound familiar? The Fior is real they really do take care of you. The best in SF in our opinion.

Avoid this place. The food was below average at best. Wait staff was slow, slow, slow!

Calimari was rubber like, lasagna seemed right out of the frozen food section of your grocery store and served luke warm. This was the only place I was charged a 2% fee to subsidize their health insurance costs??? whats up with that! The waiter showed me the menu that explains this "fee" on your bill.

I would not recomend this restaurant.

Excellent Italian for "locals" away from touristy areas. My wife & I went there based on tour guide recommendation, and had a wonderful dinner of authentic Italian cuisine. I had the lasagna which was succulent and not microwaved like some chain restaurants, and my wife had the fettucine al bolognese. At $15 ea/ and 2 salads and bread, we were full for $70 incl tax & tip. We had 7:30 reservations but were there 1/2 hour early & got a nice window seat, no problem. But at 7:30, patrons were lined up at the door, so make the reservation. Waiters wore tuxes (ours had 25 yrs' there), but I was not uncomfortable in Dockers shorts & polo shirt on a Sat. night. Higher end menu items did appear quite pricey (maybe norm for SanFran), but looked very good from what I could see. The place was very clean, and romantic, but I'm not sure I'd take little kids there. 2 blocks from Muni bus ride. Much better I suspect than the touristy North Beach row of garlic-heavy cliche Italian places.

Best traditional Italian in town!. I had one of the greatest dining experiences at the Fior. I finally got a chance to eat at the new location since the fire and I was amazed how they were able to maintain almost (except for the location) everything the same. You don't get that professional service and treatment everyday these days. And when you top that with an impeccible menu, you know you are in good hands. Can't wait till the next time I go there!

The real San Fancisco. We have been to the Fior d' Italia's new location (6th building I believe) several times. Talk about a classic. It is so much nicer tha the last location that got kinda old and worn out. The "new" place is very attractive and romantic. Got to be one of the best in the city.

Food and service on each visit were spectacular. If you want real traditional Italian the Fior d' Italia is the place to be. The restaurant claims to make (according to our waiter Lalo) all there sauces and most of the pastas in house. On our latest visit we started with the calamari, then had caesar salad and four great entree's; pepper steak, veal saltibocca, osso bucco and lamb chops. Too good! We ere full but Lalo bought us a tiramisu to share. We bought another.

Can't say enough about the restaurant. Locals love it and it should be required for visitors to the city.
