Very rude manager. I have been their customer for 6 months.I went with a group of 20 people in this resturant last saturday night. The music was great and the food was good as usual but the manager(fat guy) was so bad behavior and rude. I was their customer but I promised myself never go there till they change this rude manager.
Live jazz, a piazza-like patio and lots of local love have kept this legendary North Beach cafe buzzing since 1958..
The Scene
Renowned for its premium people-watching location, this North Beach staple's crown jewel is a 40-seat, heated veranda that overlooks Broadway. Other noteworthy architectural elements, such as Greco-Roman columns and handsome French doors, were crafted by original owner Enrico Banducci and have been preserved throughout renovations. Indoors, a bustling bar serves classic cocktails to a generation-spanning crowd of locals and tourists, while the cream-colored dining room hosts those seeking a full meal. Both camps are within earshot of jazz musicians, who play at the foot of a mural depicting a Beat-era street party.
The Food
Local, seasonal ingredients shine on the Italian-inflected menu: A juicy rainbow of heirloom tomatoes is topped with fresh burrata and dressed in aged balsamic, olive oil and sea salt, while the Frog Hollow Farm peach accompaniment steals the limelight from its charred pork tenderloin entrée. Pink Hawaiian salt adds texture to a delightfully creamy duck-liver pate appetizer, but the standout dish is an impeccably seasoned Alaskan halibut main--plated simply and elegantly on a bed of sautéed fennel and leeks. Espresso-ice-cream profiteroles capped with hot fudge and toasted almonds make a grand finale.
Hits: The large, inset portico is unbeatable. It somehow manages to deliver a unique experience from the dining room without leaving alfresco guests feeling banished from the indoor action.
Misses: Service is scattered at its best, and rude at its worst. While reservations are honored promptly, drink refills can be ill-paced and diners often feel ignored after entrees arrive.
reopened!. I was bummed to see this place boarded up and looking like it closed down for so long. This summer it re-opened it's doors and had some nice renovations done. I like the outdoor patio they have, but the inside is very nice too and they always have live music. I'm not too impressed with their menu, but you can't go wrong with a few of their appetizers or their small personal pizza with some of their tasty drinks. I personally like the oysters or frito-misto appetizers. Good service and nice atmosphere, fun way to start an evening.
Great casual jazz restaurant with live music nightly. Enrico's has outdoor space in the front of the restaurant. It's tucked in from the street so its quieter. They have heat lamps outside but on a windy day, you can really feel it b/c its situated on the corner. The decor is nice and there was a band playing with a nice sounding woman singing. The service is attentive but our waiter was a bit deadpan but still friendly. For apps we had the clam with chorizo and tomato sauce--highly recommended! And for entree we had the pan iron steak made as ordered. They also have house made pasta and that was incredible. Definitely worth going back to again.
Great music- absurd service. I have patronized Enrico's for many years and I have watched the place go up and down, but at dinner tonight the place hit a new low. The maitre d'hotel, after the long wait to be acknowledged, seemed drunk as a skunk as he reeled around the room sloppily, and the waiter was patronizing and attitudinal. The food is OK, as are the drinks, but the service really queered the experience. The reason to go here is great jazz with no cover charge. That's worth a lot. Just don't expect more.
Sit outside and soak up the sights. Loved the outdoor seating with a great view of the Financial District and the Broadway foot traffic. The live jazz is always a nice touch. The food was average and a bit pricey. The portions weren't all that huge either. I think this place is better for drinks and socializing than dining. Service was consistent with what it should be. Nothing outstanding, but by no means bad. If you're looking for a good meal, there's better locations in North Beach. But a great place just hang out.
Pleasant Dining Experience. I arrived at Enrico's at 6PM on a Sunday night after the North Beach festival. I was promptly seated at an inside table near the window. My waiter was very efficient and courteous even though he and the other 2 waitstaff were kept jumping. I ordered the lasagna, which arrived quickly and piping hot. With a cold beer and the fresh crusty bread, it made an excellent meal. I lingered over coffee and dessert to listen to the Jazz music. Even though the place was very full by 8PM, I never felt rushed or pressured. All-in-all, a very pleasant dining experience.
Serious yet professional waiter!!.
Delight salad, Great steak, good Jazz music. Tasty creme caramel. I had a great 1st date there...
There's a parking lot next to the restaurant.
What a cool place!.
I went to Enrico's last Friday for the first time for a friends birthday and had one of the best experiences I can remember. What a great place, our waiter was so cool, he joked with us all night and gave us great service, the food was far better than I'd expected (you have to try the pork chop) and the jazz band was awesome. (definately not the place to go for background music)
I can't wait to take my husband there.
Best bar/restaurant in San Francisco. Closest thing to Paris in SF, a great outdoor cafe/bar/rest, free music, good food, my favorite in San Francisco! Don't forget to try the Mojitos.
