Ambiance & Good Food. I had dinner at the bar at Enrico's last Monday nite and had one of the best times of my life. Pizza, pear salad, and a nice dry white wine that the bartender recommended. I met a poet, a calligrapher, an aromatherapist, and a painter, and the conversation was enlightening. The best part of the night was the boogie woogie piano player.
Second-rate. Like most of the reviews say (at least those who have some knowledge of what a dining experience should be) take your business elsewhere. The wait staff needs to take Service 101, the chef (I use the term loosely here) must have slept through most classes, except "How to Make Your Food as Bland as Possible" and "Cream versus Water Sauce". As for the wine, at the price per glass, I would expect something above the notch of "screw cap".
Go elsewhere.
Like a previous reviewer, we had a bad dining experience here. That should tell you something.
Bad service, long waits, LOUD music during music. What a waste. Except for the location, I can't see why this is rated so highly. Go elsewhere--I know I will from now on.
Poor service, too loud, decent food. Six of us just went on Friday, 10/29, and were pretty disappointed. The service was so terrible, that our entire meal took THREE hours to complete. We waited forever to order, get our appetizers, have our plates cleared, get our water glasses refilled, etc. Plus, the live band makes it very difficult to hear conversation. The food was pretty decent, but overall, we were not happy with this place. I will never go there again.
Poor service.
Beware of the host that answers the phone!
This location is in a great spot, it looks great, but the service is terrible - over the phone atleast. The host had no time for me when I called for a reason other than to make a reservation. When I was asking for the cross street, he actually cut me off and said, "oh, you're gonna make me cry" and "can you call me later". Have you ever heard of such a thing from a restaurant? I'll never patronize this restaurant. Too rude for my taste!
How are they getting a 10?!. I've been to Enrico's a couple times and I was disillusioned. The prices are way too high for food that is average at best. There are so many fabulous restaurants with better prices! It is incredibly crowded and loud with slow service. I'm thinking it is successful only due to the location in the touristy North Beach.
Cool Place!. We had one night in San Fran and chose Enrico's for dinner. The neighborhood is "colorful" - and I liked it. It was a really cook place. The music was wonderful, the waiter was attentive and the food was really good (though not outstanding). I didn't think fried olives sounded very good, but I heard I just had to try them and was glad I did. They were delicious! Overall, there was just a good vibe about the place.
I'm not sure I get it with this place. What's with all the praise about Enrico's? I just recently went with my wife for the first time, mostly to see my friend's jazz trio. They were by far the highlight of the experience, for the food and service were average at best -- just not priced that way. We had some cheese plate appetizer that was pretty good, but our entrees were... well, just average. It's the sort of food I might find at a place like, say, Park Chow, just with better presentation and doubled prices. The service was also average at best. Basically, it's a meal I'd quickly forget if it didn't fall so short of hype and expectations. The jazz was good though.
a gem in north beach. enrico's is great, I have been going there since I was a kid. It is one of the best patios in the whole city. The food is excellent, though a little pricey, but for the most part, it is all worthwhile. The service is professional and top knotch, and I felt like my family and I had a real memorable occasion at enricos. I can't wait to go back.
Crackin Me Up!. I love Enrico's. The staff always makes me laugh. The food is tasty and the drinks get me drunk. I keep coming back for the crazy atmosphere. I absolutely CRAVE their deep fried olives. The salmon bruschetta is pretty good too...but mostly their staff makes me feel at home. I LOVE you guys. Don't ever change. You are a breath of fresh air in a stagnant world.
