Tips for Kells Irish Restaurant & Bar

So So. I have been to Kells on four separate occasions and all in all, there are MUCH better irish bars. The bartenders cant be asked, it is uncomfortably crowded through the night, and the small stuffy dance floor is nothing to get excited about...the list goes on. Overall I wouldnt recommend it. If you are lookin for a good time, head somewhere else.

AWESOME MUSIC. I love this place!!! It's a great hangout for girls, guys, singles etc. Everyone is there, it's a party upstairs and down. This is the place to dance on the tables and get funky!

Not a good dinner place. Not a good choice for dinner, especially if you want to be able to hear the people you're eating with. Too loud, service was rushed (entrees were served before starters were half-way finished) and food was only so-so at best.

Sausage Party. Kells is a great time if you like being around desperate men all might. I have been here a couple of times, and everytime it seems like more and more guys show up. This past weekend there were probably a maximum of 15 girls and over 50 guys. If you are looking to meet women, do yourself a favor and steer clear of "Sausagefest", aka Kells.

Worst bar in SF. This place is basically a bunch of sweaty guys yelling and throwing up in the bathrooms while fighting over the 30 girls in the bar. I have never seen a worse crowd at a bar in san francisco. The only redeeming quality of this place was you have tons of opportunities to make fun of everyone. I think this place is a bunch of 30 year olds acting like it is their 21st birthday. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

Neighborhood Happy Hours w/REAL FOOD. This place is all things. It has great traditional Irish fare, neighborhood happy hours with real food not just chips, and is a good place to stop on any game night. The original chef is also back so expect rich traditional dishes for lunch and dinner.

Kells for males..... Kells is a fun place to be overall cool staff, good music but lately they have been letting big groups of men(Brazilian especially) in and throwing the balance of men to women off BIG TIME!! that is making the ladies very aggresive and nasty they need to keep it more in line....Kells your awesome!!

watch out for the abusive bar staff!. I would only recommend this place if you are looking to get harassed and physically asulted by the bar man simply for your race. This was one of the most disgusting encounters I have ever had in San Fransisco! My boyfriend (who is English and visiting from England) was harassed by the Irish bar man for the history between the Irish and English...blamed for all past wrong doings of England and then physically grabbed by four bouncers, choked and thrown out of an emergency exit -where he continued to be assaulted by the staff. His arms are both bruised and he has finger prints on his neck from being choked. I strongly DO NOT recommend this place to anyone looking to dance and have a friendly, peaceful night out! English beware!!!!!

Greatest tables to dance on!!. This bar is amazing! I've had many amazing nights at this bar! The tables are slightly wobbly, in fact, my friend broke her foot while dancing on the wobbly table! But we had a blast laughing at the situation. She will be back on the bar in no time! Thanks for the good times! Will definitely be back for a friends bacholorette party!
