Tips for My Canh

Great hole in the wall serving a great Vietnamese carpaccio, crab soup, Banh Xeo and Pho. Friendly staff, a gem of a place with quick service and solid menu. Rice plates look exceptional as well. Good solid no frills value leads the boards here.

Excellent Banh Canh Cua (crab noodle soup), other dishes okay. Banh Canh Cua (crab noodle soup with udon-style noodles) is a dish that's very hard to find in San Francisco. That's why I was delighted to find out that My Canh serves this seasonal dish. It comes as a huge, steaming bowl of udon-style noodles (but softer) with large chunks of crab in a thick broth. Add a bit of lime juice and hot sauce, and you've got yourself a delicious meal! Beware however, this soup is made true to Vietnamese style, with chunks of pork with skin and coagulated pig blo0d, which may scare anyone who's not used to genuine Vietnamese dishes. I would simply ask the server not to add pork into the soup!

The imperial rolls (egg rolls) are overly stuffed with meat, and not very tasty - probably the worst I've tried in the city. The beef vermicelli is decent. The vermicelli is not as fresh as other places, and the fish sauce is alright. I would come back simply for the crab noodle soup!

Delicious!. The food is so yummy and it's served really fast. The staff knows me and my coworkers by now because we order there so often. I agree with the other review about lack of ambiance or decor, but who cares when the food is good? The spring rolls are one of my favorite items on the menu, but I never detract from ordering my five spice chicken with vermicelli. Soooo good! Really affordable and really tasty, this place is a winner!

gracious staff. I visited My Canh today and was very pleased with its delicious food and fast service. They were so nice! I was eighty cents short when the check came, and the waitress didn't sweat it. I will definitely be going back again, not only to repay my debt, but also to sample more of their wonderful food. Features a large selection of vegetarian dishes as well.

A great find!. Had low expectations when I stumled upon My Cahn. And the decorum didn't do much to change that. The bun cha with imperial rolls, however, did. Nice, thin, BBQ pork with little fat, tasty imperial rolls (they refer to them them as egg rolls in case you get confused by the menu), and good fish sauce. My Cahn has some of the best Viatnamese noodles in town, on par with Tu Lan. At less than $5 for bun cha, this may be the best value around.

I can dig it.. Yum, yum, yum. I love this place, especially after a few drinks. It's open late, and the spring rolls and Egg Rolls are too good to pass up. Their soups are fabulous, especially the seasonal soups. Their food is too good to resist burning your mouth on. On second thought, don't go here, I want it all to myself!!!
