The crowd is decidedly younger and livelier than its old-school North Beach counterpart, Capp's, located across the street. Dan Patrick of ESPN bored us one night with his presence at the bar. Northstar Cafe has sponsored our men's fastpitch softball team for the last 4 years, gave us hats this year as well (uh, most bars don't actually give you that much) and the best is a free beer after the game. Most of the players travel in on Thursdays from all over the Bay Area, and to play a competitive game then hang out in a great North Beach spot is really a good thing. Chillin'. Cool place. Drinks are very reasonable and the staff is really friendly. Not a ton of talent here but some here and there. Overall, a fun place just to chill and have some drinks. It can get pretty crowded around 11-12 on Fridays, Saturdays.

Capp's Corner across the street is even more mellow but it has tons of charm and its worth checking out.…
