Plain and unsympathetic. If you like lukewarm and uninspired food, homeless folks pawing at your grub, wait-list customers crowding your table, and a waitress who dismisses your courteous after-dinner suggestion that a table not be located where this all happens, this is the place for you. There's too much competition for diners' dollars in North Beach to put up with this.

For an Old World Italian dining experience in an intimate setting, Sodini's hits the spot.. With all the amenities of a cliche Italian restaurant-green and white tablecloths, candles in chianti bottles, chintzy Christmas lights, thick accents, and even thicker eyeglasses--Sodini's somehow manages to be original. Whether it's the local clientele, the classic cuisine, or just that this block of Green Street is so full of character, this Sicilian restaurant epitomizes old-school, Lady and the Tramp-style North Beach dining. Specialties include the carbonata and rack of lamb, while the locals seem to congregate here to rib each other over stiff drinks at the fully stocked bar.

High Marks
"The comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere is like the food, a straightforward but delicious family style italian." (dgulbran, Citysearch user)

"If you are looking for a place that is not full of tourists and is not all about the hype of the other restaurants in North Beach this is your place." (sfgal14, Citysearch user)

Low Marks
"The place had a real family ambiance. BUT... I love italian food and being italian perhaps iI don't like when it is 'americanized'..." (itgal, Citysearch user)

"Food was your typical northbeach disappointing Italian. Nothing to get excited over." (cbokat, Citysearch user)

Not up to standard.. Had dinner at Sodini's on a whim since it is my maiden name. My parents owned restaurants in Marin County and San Mateo County for over 35 years. No way would I like to take credit for the food at Sodini's (my parents would have not appreciated the food). The service also was not up to par. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Old School North Beach. Setting foot in Sodini's felt like taking a step back in time to North Beach circa 1960. The decor made it feel like a set from Goodfellas, it was great. But the best part of Sodini's is the food. The food was some authentic North Beach italian fare and the wine was great as well. The service was good but nothing to get excited over. Sodini's is a very small restaurant and they do not allow reservations so I would recommend coming early so you don't have to wait in the small bar area.

Love the decor. I've past by this place a few times but never made it in. So I had a craving for Italian and thought I'd check it out. I love this decor. It's something out of an Italian movie - very campy. Sinatra/Martin/Davis Jr. memorabilia adorns almost ever corner of this place and I loved that. The lights were dim, the tables were covered in red and white tablecloths and the booths are red.

There's also a small bar when you first walk in. Most likely you'll be having a drink there while you wait for your table too. They don't take reservations and they place seems packed every time I've walked past it.

Staff is friendly, place is cute, and the food althought generous, is so so. I'd go back, but not for a long while.
