Best Italian Ice Cream..... EVER

Back when I was in high school there used to be more than one of the Gelato Classico in the City and I think it is a shame this is the last one left, but I am thankful that at least we have it! My favorite flavor is "Copa Mista" which means mixed cup. It is a combination of Pistachio, Vanilla and Chocolate. I have tried over the years to re-create the flavor by ordering all three in one cup at varies ice cream shops around the world (even in Italy!) and it's just not the same. I am pregnant now and woke up this morning thinking I just might die if I don't get my Copa Mista. Lucky for me there is this one last shop left in the City. As soon as it opens, you'll see me there, ordering a cup for now and a couple pints for later!

• Cons: Not enough locations

We walked by here on a recommendation and found it closed for remodeling. We'll have to come back later and try it again.

Why isn't this place more crowded?

I really love this place -- it's my favorite secret spot in North Beach. Having worked in an ice cream shop awhile back, I know how crowded a good spot can get when people know about it, but whenever I go here I'm the only one there. Hey, no worries -- just means less wait before some coppa mista or peanut butter chocolate. Great place to go after a meal, or any time, really.

• Pros: great gelato, never crowded
• Cons: could use more flavors perhaps?
