Only one thing to get: Saint Honore Cake!.
Their Saint Honore cake is amazing. That's all I really have had here since my dad loves it. All I know is that there is some Bavarian cream and rum in it and it involves cream puffs, custard and vanilla.
And I have never ever not loved it.
The cake filling literally went bad within a day!.
I am very disappointed in the fact that the last time I bought a princess cake from Victoria, the cake filling literally went bad within a day.
Give me a break! At that price, next day the thing was spoiled?
2 stars because this is usually my favorite at this bakery. I'm hoping on a bad day. The next time I go, I hope to not go through the same experience again.
Cute, tasty, but kind of overrated. My parents got their wedding cake from Victoria Pastry, and all my life all I've been hearing from them (and everyone else, the media, top 10 lists, etc) is how unbelievable this pastry shop is. Granted, the cookies and pastries I've had are definitely good. They are crumbly gourmet treats that are not overly sweet, and the selection is great. However, i don't think they're amazing enough to live up to the hype. Check it out if you're in the area, but don't come with ridiculously high expectations.
Once a Great San Francisco Tradition. I was so looking forward to my birthday St Honore cake and was nothing but disappointed. The base pastry was rubbery and off-tasting as were the cream puffs. The whipped cream tasted like it had been inside the refrigerator for days and was starting to separate. And as far as the rum goes, there was just the slightest hint of rum extract. It seems to me that the quality has really gone down hill in the 15 years since I last tried this delicacy. The high point was the cannoli I got for the the road. It was ok - not the best I've had but certainly serviceable. And the guys who waited on me was a gentleman and easy on the eyes. I had taken the trouble to order this cake in advance hoping it would get some special attention but no such luck. Partake at your own risk!
Awesome Bakery. I LOVE this place. Have been going here for years. The Napoleon's are the best in town. San Honore cake is fab too. Have tried the cakes and pasteries. Only on two occasions, in 12 years, were the princess cake try and pasteries a bit dry. Otherwise, stellar quality and taste.
This well-loved North Beach bakery keeps the sweet treats coming..
In Short
One of San Francisco's oldest bakeries, this North Beach mainstay has been baking delicious desserts since 1914. They're famous for its Saint Honore cakes, creamy extravanganzas of crunchy pastry and rum-soaked sponge cake layered with whipped cream and topped with a ring of custard-filled cream puffs. Wedding cakes are also a specialty, and no one makes traditional multitiered cakes quite like the dazzling confectioners here.
good coffee pastry nnnnnnnni. coffee is good but in two different occasions I had pastries here and theywere preatty old and the taste was awfull.
