Sushi for the rest of us..
If you're not into the "scene"-type of sushi restaurants (you know which ones I'm talking about!), Amberjack should be at the top of your list. The staff is super-friendly and remember me every time I visit, which is at least once a month. I like that they have both good sushi and good noodle dishes so I can mix 'n' match them for a wide variety of meals. Seems like the Japanese version of comfort foods, epecially in the winter when I might want something hot to eat. The ambiance is very "neighborhood" and friendly -- a very comfortable place to go.

An airy Noe Valley sushi joint serving familiar Japanese fare..
In Short
A glass façade invites light into a pastel-colored interior lined with framed artwork. The friendly staff serves maki, nigiri and a full Japanese lunch and dinner menu to a neighborhood clientele seated at small tables or the sushi bar. The chef says his loyal patrons "know what to expect" -- a predictable but dependable Japanese menu, including rolls like Golden Dragon Maki and entrees such as Chilean Seabass Misoyaki.

Reliably excellent.
I go to Amberjack at least once a month or so, and I've never had a bad meal. The fish is always fresh, and the miso-marinated butterfish is a standout dish that I start missing when I haven't had it in a while. Other dishes, such as udon, are consistently good also. It's hardly ever crowded, making it a sure bet for a good neighborhood dinner.

Sushi in Noe.
I've been here a couple of times and both times have been good experiences. The restaurant is small but not cramped. Amberjack is not a scene. It's a good place for good sushi with a nice atmosphere. The fish seems to be always fresh. The staff is very attentive.

Amberjack is Amazing!.
I have eaten sushi a number of times during my life and Amberjack is one of the best, if not the best I have ever had! I eat there a few times a month since moving to the area and it has remained consistently great each and every time! The Chirashi is what I recommend and if you have room for dessert, you have to try the Green Tea Cheesecake!..it's hella good! The waitresses are very sweet and the service is fantastic. Amberjack is a hidden gem!
