It was disappointing that the sashimi from this restaurant tasted most definitely altered, in order to stay fresh longer perhaps. That's too bad, because I am a huge fan of sushi and sashimi and I could have been a regular.

Diners craving Godzilla-sized sushi rolls and Japanese comfort foods don't need to head any further than this corner West Portal restaurant..
Despite a regularly crowded dining room at this cozy neighborhood Japanese spot, the servers, dressed in kimono-like Japanese attire, are so friendly and accomodating that you won't mind waiting 20 minutes for a table or receiving a forgotten appetizer after the entrees. Teriyaki salmon, pork katsu, vegetable tempura and other traditional comfort foods come out on huge square plates accompanied by separate small bowls of rice, miso soup and a simple salad of iceburg lettuce and a tangy vinaigerette. Bento boxes are so big they take up nearly half the table. The only reprieve for the hard-working staff comes from the diners who sit at the slender sushi counter and order up colossal rolls that can be handed to them from the cook directly.

Fuji has great sushi.
If you like Sushi and want to try sushi with a twist, go to Fuji. Their rolls are top notch. I've had rolls here that I had never seen anywhere. Great food, great people.
