This tropical Cow Hollow hangout erupts on weekends with a lively crowd and plenty of games..
In Short
Established in 1939 by some folks from Hawaii, Mauna Loa keeps the theme alive with island-style décor. A semi-circle bar with a parquet-wood top is the centerpiece of the room, while a set of windows opens onto Fillmore Street for people-watching. Dark wood tones dominate the entire bar--from hardwood floors to wooden walls. Old-school San Franciscans hang out at happy hour; on weekend nights, the young Marina set takes over.

A constant in an ever-changing area.
Hasn't changed at all in at least the ten years that I've lived here and in this case that's a good thing. The staff is always friendly and you won't sit around with an emply glass in front of you for long.

Oasis in the Marina.
Manua Loa is an oasis for those who live in or enjoy the Marina but aren't the 'Marina type'. The bartenders are great, down to earth people. The crowd can be Marina types on weekend nights, but the rest of the time its a great place to chat and meet cool people.
