Neighborhoods: North, Marina
A nice place -- low key and classic – This is a classic neighborhood bar that has been around for a while. We wandered by it one sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by it's unpretentious and low key atmosphere. This place is a gem-- a real standout in the otherwise irritatingly trendy Marina area. It is a little divey, but that's part of it's charm. It's not trying to be anything but what it is. And unlike what one prior reviewer said, it does not smell bad. It just smells like a bar.
Steer clear!! – After months of walking by the empty, dreary bar I thought i'd give it a chance...what a mistake! There were all of two people in the bar, both of which were over the age of 70 and smoking cigarrettes (inside), apparently anything goes!! I honestly don't know how this dive stays open. Drinks are highly overpriced, the atmosphere is dingy, dark and disgusting and the staff is less than pleasant. Don't get me wrong, I love a good local dive bar, but this trash takes "dive" to a whole new level.
Save your money and your health and go next door to Monoghans or the Horseshoe....there's a reason this place is always empty!!
What is this place? – If you like the smell of vomit?go here. If you like expensive drinks in small glasses?go here. If you like small beer selections with taps that have napkins over them indicating they are out?go here. Listen I?m all for dive/local bars, but this isn?t the one. I live a few blocks away and never see anybody in here, minus the two old 60+ gentlemen that are always outside smoking. If you want a dive bar in the Marina go to the Horseshoe, don?t go here.
Want to hide from the Pretty People? – So you want to find a 'real' bar in the Marina?
Away from the girls in the Prada shoes, and the boys in the stripey shirts?
C C's is the place for you, the bar has a great Jukebox, with everyone from The Clash to Tom Jones.
There's loads of seating, sofas with zebra print cushions, a back room (if you want to get away) a pool table and even a patio. Check out the celebrity photos behind the bar, and the Journey posters on the walls.
CC or Jen are great hosts, and both tell a great story, and look after their regulars.
This is truly a place to kick back, drink and have a good time in an unpretentious atmosphere.
Come down with friends, or sit at the bar and make some new ones.
