best subs around.
you may have to wait in line to get one of their subs - but the wait is definitely worth it. the subs are fresh, made-to-order.
the best thing to do is to call ahead with your order and just pick it up.
Great toasted subs. These subs are awesome and filling. They are well-toasted, and the meat and toppings are piled on - all for very reasonable prices. There is almost always a wait (it's a popular place) and the service is slow because they have only two workers. I usually phone in my order 10 minutes ahead and then go pick it up. There are about 4 tables so eating in is a definite possibility. Basically, Marina Sub offers tasty, satisfying fare that doesn't disappoint!
Two levels of service.
I have been here twice and I won't be going back. The service is subpar and the food is mediocre at best. They make generous size sandwiches for a decent $ but the quality of the ingredients is below average and the results are sloppy.
The quality of the food doesn't compare to the poor service. Both times I have gone there were a few people ahead of me. However this didn't prevent other people from walking in and getting served before me. They were friends of the person working behind the counter. I could understand this happening once, but it occured both times i was there. Hey what about the people who have been in line for 20-25 minutes? If I have to wait an extra 10 minutes for your buddies to get food then I won't be going back. There are better sandwich shops on Union Street!
Best Subs in the city!. By far, Marina Subs is the best toasted sandwich in the city. Though the wait is long during lunch and dinner hours, any other time walking in is bearable. I recommend phoning in your order as there are only two employees. Since the chef prides himself on his subs, he carefully makes everyone himself, which is why they taste so good. Though extras on the sub can add to the cost, the taste far exceeds the price. The meat is piled on as much as the veggies, and the bread is perfectly toasted. Great place for amazing subs.
Best sandwiches in town. Yes, the wait can be a little long, especially if you don't phone in your order earlier. BUT, like anything else that requires you to wait (like a pint of Guinness), the reward is well worth the wait! I have to eat here at least once, each time I make a trip to SF. The owner could definitely use extra workers, but I'd rather wait and let him make it himself.
Yummy subs, slow service. Perhaps the best toasted sub sandwiches in San Francisco. The only issue is the service is INCREDIBLY slow unless you phone in your order. For some reason, there are only two persons working there, and only one of them is making sandwiches. Is the owner losing business by not hiring another helper? Possibly.
