For almost 20 years, The Blue Light has been a favorite place to gather on Union Street in San Francisco. Welcoming and warm, The Blue
Light's atmosphere is inviting for both locals and visitors to historic Cow Hollow. Having provided a place to both celebrate and drown sorrows through the booms and busts of the last two decades, The Blue Light certainly qualifies as a Union Street institution.
Pull up a stool at the 45-foot Mahogany bar or grab a table and enjoy some of the best, reasonably-priced drinks and pub-style fare in The City. If you're a sports enthusiast, with 19 HD flat screen TV's with satellite access, there isn't a bad seat in the house. For those who think all good bars should have a pool table and juke box, we've got those, too. Above all, we value our customers, old and new, and we strive to make our service reflect that belief.

Great Bar on Union. The Blue Light is a fun bar that has tasty bar food and good atmosphere. If you’re not in the mood to watch a sports game on one of their many televisions you can hit the back room and play pool. It’s spacious and seems like it always has a good crowd.
Great College Football Spot.
I don't usually post about bar food but this was a special Saturday afternoon in San Fransisco. We needed a place to watch the Michigan game while traveling and were pointed to Blue Light Cafe. They were very well set up with signs on each TV detailing which game will be shown at particular times. We arrived plenty early to secure a good seat for our game. When it was all said and done we spent too much money, drank a lot of pitchers and spent a healthy nine or so hours in the same corner. Big Blue beat Indiana and everyone had a great time. Dinner time arrived so I picked something off the menu for nourishment. I ordered mac 'n cheese with a side salad. It was surprisingly good and well cooked given the location. The salad wasn't half bad either. For bar food on game-day Saturday, I was impressed.

Awesome Marina hangout. Great drinks & food. Hip crowd.. I love going to Blue Light. I’ve been here countless times and the place is always packed with a mix of cool young people. The bar has a casual vibe with hip & friendly Marina crowds in their 20s and 30s. Nothing pretentious about this Marina hangout and people always seem to be having fun. Terrific drinks and great food at great prices. And yes, the TACO TUESDAYS are the best!
Really cool bar!. This is a terrific after work joint. Crowded with lots of good looking people. I went there last night and had a blast. Check it out if you are in SF.
Cold beverages, tasty app's and good jukebox. We went to the Blue Light the other night with co-workers after work. Always a fun time. We sampled various app's all which were tasty and the Fat Tire's were ice cold. Also, the juke box has a large variety of tunes which is great. They've added a Wi game in the back which seemed very popular.
Great Service, Great Fun and Very Client Focused.
I have been here a few times and each time it is a very fun and very different experience. The one thing I do like as that even when the bartenders are slammed, they still make certain to take a look around and see if you are running low on your beverages.
They are so accommodating that one time, one of the bartenders- Lance knew I was driving some friends and offered me coffee since I wasn't drinking that night but he wanted to make sure I was having a good time.
Next time I go back I am making sure someone else drives so I can really enjoy myself.
Favorite late night hang out. I make the Blue Light a regular stop on my late night tour of the city. The bartenders and staff are always very friendly and concerned that you don't leave without having a good drink or story! It isn't trendy; it just has that neighborhood bar feel to it unlike many others on Union Street. The food is good, there's always great music playing and on the weekend you can dance in the back! This bar is a regular meeting place for me and my friends as it is comfortable and close to many other destinations we like to frequent!
Neighborhood institution! Great place to meet friends!.
Visiting San Francisco from New York for the first time in a few years,
I went to the neighborhood Blue Light, a staple in the Marina, which
welcomes everyone! The menu is simple but delicious....something for
everyone. The bartenders remain the best in the city. Drinks are strong.
Prices are reasonable and I don't feel like I get that yuppie attitude.
Friendly atmosphere will definitely have me back again.
Hottest bartender on Tues. I met the most wonderful and hansom bartender Elliot. He is a perfect fit for the taco tuesday craze that happens every week. He will be a star in this town for years to come...
Best Place to Chill. I think blue light is one of the best bars in SF. The wait staff never seems to let me down. If I order a beer they usually ask me, "what kind?" Isn't that great? I met my wife at blue light in 05 so I always feel like I should drop a huge tip when I order there tacos on tuesdays. My wife orders SIX! She needs to cut back but they're so good! I always like to liven up the dance floor when I hear the dj play hits like 2pac and John Denver. That's where I met my wife by the way, she was on the dance floor dressed as a naughty nurse. But don't worry it was Halloween. I love Blue Light...see you there!
