MMMM Sushi..... Fresh sushi, creative rolls, good vibe. My girls and I were there one night, and had an entire side of the restaurant doing sake bombs with us. Rock 'n roll...
Why would anyone want to go here with so many better sushi places in SF.
My best description of this place would be, go there if you want to hang out with "fabulous people" and get drunk, but definately don't go for the sushi. We waited an hour to get seated, the place was full post college "20 somethings" getting drunk on OK saki and average sushi, at best.
I think their success is due to location.
Too loud, ok to good food. I finally (after living here 3 years!) got around to trying out this hyped up Marina venue last week. Was it everything I dreamed it would be? Not really, but a pleasant experience overall. Their poke was unique, with added almonds and mango, which I found delicious! The grilled hamachi didnt thrill me nearly as much just ok, and a little dry. I must also admit, I swooned over my waiter, Kyle (and Im not really the type to swoon over my waiter). Yes, he was hot, but the service was pretty good, too. The music was fun, but way to loud to have a comfortable conversation (a big negative for me).
Love it!. I love, love, love, love it! I've had some things that I didn't love, but I've also found favorites like the Crunchy Sake Roll that are superb everytime. Twice I've sat at the sushi bar where the chefs are super friendly. Both times I've had the same crazy chef (I call him Fun Bobby-like from Friends)...he's kind of a nut, but if you're willing to let him be creative, he will make you some AMAZING rolls.
HOW CAN YOU RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!. I recently was here for dinner and sampled many of their sushi and sashimi offerings and I have to say that the fish is TASTELESS here. How can they pass for a prime sushi place and offer such inferior food. Trust me, don't come here expecting to have good food...tasteless and expensive.
Rocking place and always fun. So Ace is definitely a cool place to be seen. This place was still packed on a Thurs night after 10pm. Good food overall and service was pretty good too. All the waiters were drunk :) Definitely loud so be prepared to speak up when u want to talk to someone.
Ace Wasabis.... i dont know what that last guy was talking about, service being bad and everything. The atmosphere may be loud but it brings everything alive in a sense. its not extremely mellow or anything and there is this back room for you to sit at if you want something more quiet. Serive was great when i went there, even had sake shots with the sushimen. Ordering sushi, depends on what your tastes are. Also everyone that i have taken to ace wasabis love it.
More of a scene than a restaurant. If you like a ton of marina kids in their best duds being loud and dropping sake bombs like there ain't no tomorrow, then this is the place for you. the crowd and wait are ridiculous for the food and the price. it's got good food and drinks to it's credit, but it's just not worth the time you spend waiting for a seat and then for the food. i'd say try it on a weekday when you don't have to deal with the crowds and you'll be better able to judge this place.
Sushi Central. Fantastic place!! You come for the upbeat apmosphere and leave craving the amazing sushi.
Worst Japanese restaurant in town!. This may be the lamest sushi place I've ever been to. The waitstaff and the hostess had poor attitudes and seemed like spoiled college kids with no service experience whatsoever (Maybe Chili's isn't hiring). I'd say give it a miss! There are too many good sushi places in town to waste your time and money in a place like this.
