A Neighborhood Institution. I've been going to Izzy's for years, and it never disappoints. Its a great neighborhood restaurant that had stood the test of time. I usually order the filet mignon (not the medallions) with the brandy cream sauce. It isn't on the menu that way, but they will make it that way if you ask. And, of course, you must order the creamed spinach - decandent and delicious. Just be sure to eat lightly that day, as this is not a low cal type of joint!

Great potatoes too. I love a good steak as much as anyone else but I always miss out on the fixings. Izzys has great service and Awesome Potatoes. I think they are called duchess potatoes, sliced and oven baked in a creamy sauce.

Best Skirt Steak and best value. Order the skirt steak with Izzy's recommended side platters and you'll not only spend less than $20 for that meal, but you'll eat an incredibly great tasting steak. One of the best steaks around, and certainly the best when you consider how much it costs.

Not Worth It.... I took my best friend for her birthday - and was very dissapointed. I would expect a place with "steak" in their name to be able to cook my meat as requested - medium rare. I actually sent it back the first time because it was well done (no pink at all!!!) and traded with my friend the second time because the steak was so rare. Waitress was rude and service was terrible. I would never go back.

Good Steaks, Ok Service. Nice place not to fancy, i liked it felt very cool. Salads are very good creamed spinach was to die for and steak was cooked to perfection. Being from NY this was fairly reasonably priced. I would liket to see the service improve on my next visit. It's also in a great neigborhood to take a walk in.

Torn--Love Izzy's but don't want to share. Down to earth, stable, professional waiters make Izzy's a fantastic steady hit. Whether 2 or 8, personal or business, never disappointed with the food or the service. The wine prices are very fair. Wish they aged the steaks longer than the week or so that they do...but they're still better than every other steak in the city except Bobo's--That's "good enough" because the price, service, ambience, the vibe, and other food more than make up for my "Russian Judge's" 9.7 score on the "American" steak.

for what its worth. I am a huge steak man. I am from NY and have been to atleast 30 different steak houses. On my visit to san fran i fell into this place, for the price its great. the service was no to good i guess thats why you pay 40 for a steak in NY (the service alone). The best is the creamed spinach. i still have only 8/30 steak houses that can cook a steak the right temp. Sorry this was not one of them.

Worth A Visit. We were looking for steaks and other tasty eats: Izzy's delivered. It was kinda late when we rolled in but it was great -- the steak was perfect, the drunken shrimp was wonderful, the sides (Izzy's potatoes and the creamed spinach) were wonderful and I am already planning on my next visit to Izzy's next time I hit San Francisco.

Absouletly Not Recommended. I think the service is ok.

My Prime Rib is so Dry, and not moist.

My husband's steak has no flavor

Overall, I think they don't give you good meat to start with, no matter how they cook it won't turn out taste good. Not recommended.

Delicious, delicious, delicious. The food is amazing at Izzy's. It has that steakhouse feel with booths available. This is the type of restaurant that gives you a smile from being so full from such good food. It's a great place for a birthday dinner, or a date that doesn't require a completely quite ambiance. Parking can be a real problem, if you can't take a cab there, I highly recommend leaving early to give yourself time to circle. If you are a "steak and potatoes" fan this is a spot for you!
