They are sensitive. I've been taking my rescue lab here for about 5 years. I love the vets and the front room staff. They are sensitive to financial issues, send reminders about vaccinations, prescribe over the phone without a visit.

Do things right. I'm a former client, so this is probably more brutally honest than most reviews. I had to switch after taking my cat here for ten years when I moved too far away. The care you get here is the gold standard, but you pay for it. They run a lot of tests and do everything very thoroughly, and so you end up paying quite a bit for all of that. In my case, I was getting my cat's teeth cleaned every year for ten years here and paying a small fortune every time. However, my cat developed a heart murmur and teeth cleanings became too dangerous to undertake. They caught the murmur and advised to skip the first teeth cleaning. It's too dangerous to put a cat out to do a full teeth cleaning when the cat develops a heart murmur. Two years after the last cleaning, I brought the cat in for an exam to the new vet. The new vet RAVED about how well my cat's teeth looked and RAVED about how thorough the blood tests had been at Marina Pet Hospital. Here I am, stuck in a situation where full teeth cleanings are now all but out of the question, and so it was only the fact that everything had been done right at MPH that is keeping my cat's teeth in his mouth right now. Otherwise, I'd be looking at a very dangerous extraction. I can't say I was happy with the bill at MPH, but when you get stuck into a situation where it becomes too dangerous to do a full teeth cleaning, you are lucky when the prior ones were done right. They do things right here, and it's expensive to do. But they probably saved me a fortune on the back end, so it probably all evened out.

she is a great doctor who really truly cares about the pets. Dr. Melcon can be blunt, but she is a great doctor who really truly cares about the pets. I had one short visit with Dr. Kim and she was wonderful as well. My vet bill for 4 nights of hospitalization was so reasonable - if your pet has a chronic illness get the insurance, I more than made the money back within the first two visits. I understand why some people might give this place a low rating, your pet (a.k.a. your baby) is sick, they can't tell you what hurts, you're frustrated, and then you have to pay a vet bill?? But vet care isn't free and this place is more than reasonable. Bottom line, after 5 days in a row there and 4 days in the back room visiting my cat, I found the entire staff, front desk, vet techs, and vets to be nice caring animal lovers willing to do whatever they could for me and my darling cat Angel.

Friendly and helpful. My husband and I just moved to San Francisco from Washington, DC with our dog Sampson. Sampson needed a bortadella shot in order for us to start taking him to doggie daycare. I founded Marina Pets through a quick google search and gave it a dry. We were very impressed! The receptionists were friendly and helpful and got us an appointment for later that day. Prices are good - $63 for the first time visit plus $18 for the bortadella shot. When we arrived at the clinic, we were seen right away. Dr. Kim had a great bedside manner - Sampson loved her and was very calm. She answered all our questions and gave great advice. We couldn't have had a better visit. She's definitely going to become our regular vet!

some of the best animal care. you will wind up with some of the best animal care with vets who love your animals nearly as much as you do. As a side note- their internal insurance plan saved me WELL over a thousand dollars on this surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great quality of care. Great place with very knowlegeable and friendly people. My 2-month-old puppy was completely calm and relaxed the whole time, even when she was getting a shot, and I credit the vet's friendly and calming demeanor. It's also easy to get an appointment (I got my puppy on Sunday and had an appointment for her shots on Monday) and the health coverage that the hospital offers is comprehensive and relatively inexpensive. All around good experience and great quality of care.
