Nice Spot. This is a good happening place. Check it out if you are in the inner sunset.
I believe it IS the second oldest!. I love this bar! It was even better when I saw my dad and his friend's pictures on the wall. Lots of nostalgia for me, but it does feel like I am in a friend's living room because of the relaxed atmosphere. Great drinks and great staff.
Great bar... The oldest in the city?. Awesome bar! Great draft selection, great prices, great staff. This bar is not an authentic Irish bar (though the name implies) but it doesnt try to be authentic Irish either. I have been to almost every bar in the Sunset. In my opinion this is one of the best. Heres a tip... Keep an eye out for the clock with no tick since 1906!
Little Shamrock is the place to go!. I'm a local of the avenues, so I frequent Little Shamrock a lot. The bar has a lot of character, it's been around since 1893(?). A big perk is the drinks are cheap. Drew is the bartender on Friday and Saturday nights. He makes good drinks in a timely fashion and is really personable. Lara (sp.?) is the cocktail waitress. Not only is she gorgeous, but she's a great conversationalist and is prompt with getting drinks. I was there last night for St. Patrick's Day. Had a rockin' time, even though the bar was extremely crowded. By the end of the night, people were dancing to a great music selection, the bartenders were throwing out prizes to everyone, and you could tell EVERYONE was having a great time. The only complaint I have about the bar is the popcorn machine and popcorn baskets need to be cleaned.
Inner Sunset residents mix it up with Guiness and board games at this historic Irish pub..
In Short
The second-oldest bar in the city, this jovial watering hole feels like a second home to many regulars who stop by nightly for casual conversation, friendly competition and good old-fashioned Irish libations. The cozy space, decked out in green and gold, features well-worn but comfy sofas, a warm hearth and popular backgammon tables. Whiskey connoisseurs appreciate the selection of Irish varieties, while the rest are simply impressed by the free, freshly popped popcorn.
One of the best in SF. Wonderful atmosphere, with backgammon tables, sofas, a great fireplace, AND a popcorn machine! The staff is awesome and very friendly, with bartenders that make you feel like you're part of the "Cheers" cast. This bar is a favorite SF spot for me. Highly recommended. Thanks Shamy!!
Great place for late weeknights. I was searching for a place with a few warm bodies on a random Tuesday night, and this was the only bar in the neighborhood that had more than just the one or two token barflies slumped in their stools. And they had rugby playing on TV!
Great after work bar.......... a cool place to knock a few back after work..older crowd...yuppies don't show until after 7 or so.
Please Avoid This Pseudo-Irish Bar. Don't be fooled, Irish sounding name. If you can get around the over crowded chairs and tables, collegiate study groups, unprofessional staff, and musty smell......you might just have a mediocre time.
Second Oldest bar on SF?. Not sure if that's true but the place has plenty of character. Old furnishing including a few comfy couches. Just around the corner from Ebisu so its not a bad place to grab a pint when there's long waiting list at Ebisu. Friendly staff.
