What People Are Saying About Java Beach Cafe

In Short – Nestled on a side road across from the beach, this ramshackle cafe serves up coffee and tea drinks, fat sandwiches, pastries and even a few brews. Locals sprawl across leather couches to read the paper and chat, while tourists tooling down the Great Highway come here to seek refuge from the wind-whipped beach. The snug interior boasts warm yellow tones, wood edging and nautical-themed accents. On sunny days, the outdoor patio is the place to be.
Absolutely the best Sandwich in Town
by LocalSun
A local bagel / sandwich shop in "walking distance " along my beach run -early morn and even late sunset time. Best tasting coffee ever I had. Beats Peets and Starbucks. Hot sandwiches are magnificent- freshes ingredients, melted warm cheese, red ripe tomatoes, crispy lettuce, sour Sourdough bread, just the very best. Have to wait 20 minutes (when line is out the door) but definitely worth the wait. Enjoy the coffee, its fresh, aromatic, and bold.
- Pros: Sandwiches are gourmet indeed, so fresh
- Cons: have to get "to go" since so crowded and popular
Cream and Sugar?

A quiet local establishment owned and operated by a local family. Very down-home style atmospher that relaxes you into your comfort zone. Sincerely one of the few mom & pop places left in San Francisco. Couple this with the location directly across from Ocean Beach, and you can't go wrong. Great place to meet friends or make some new ones. You not only get whats on the menu, but the ambience of the local neighborhood which makes this truely a special place to just sit back, and enjoy. Considering that I am a fourth generation San Franciscan myself, I highly recommend this place. PS This ain't no Starbucks!
- Pros: Outside seating, and Ocean Breezes.
- Cons: Foggy Weather and parking
LOVE the vibe!

This little, hidden coffee shop is totally laid-back and reminiscent of Venice Beach and Santa Monica areas, and is a welcome break from all the corporate chain coffee stores. Locals are always relaxing and chatting, the menu has a large selection for lunches (tons of drinks, sandwich options, soups, pastries and cookies, etc.), and the prices are very reasonable. I have gotten sandwiches here before and they are delicious and big, and very California with sprouts, all-veggie options, etc. If it's sunny out (which is rare), definitely pounce on an outside table. If you live in the Sunset, don't miss this spot!
- Pros: location, food, ambience
- Cons: cash only
