Don't Rule Out This Great Date Spot.
After hearing rave reviews about it from our friends and family, we decided to finally check it out for ourselves. I must say that this review may be a little biased since a friend works there and gave us exceptional service. BUT, we didn't know the other servers, bus boys, etc. all of whom gave us better service than we've seen in a long time.
Now for the food, we had the crispy wontons (average), mussels (yummy, yummy flavor but too oily), and the calamari (too salty). For our entrees, we had the bass with ginger sauce and, of course, the roasted crab and noodles just to see what all the fuss is about. Honestly, the bass was more memorable than the crab. The crab was a small one and nothing to write home about. Although I love any kind of noodles, these were pretty boring. Not that we wouldn't ever have the crab and noodles again, but I'd suggest you sample the rest of their menu. You might find a gem in the perfectly cooked and melts-in-your-mouth sea bass. Enjoy!!
ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS PLACE. DELICIOUS! THE FOOD IS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD- LIKE AMAZING. THE NOODLES AND THE CRAB ARE LIKE THE GREATEST THING YOU COULD POSSIBLY GET AND CANT GET ANYWHERE ELSE BUT THE DRINKS ARE GOOD AND THE AMBIENCE IS GREAT AND THE PEOPLE ARE LIKE QUICK AND HELPFUL AND COOL. A GREAT PLACE FOR DATE BUT TOTALLY GREAT FOR A FAMILY AND GIRLIES NIGHT AND EVENTS-- ITS LIKE THE EVERYBODY WILL LUV THIS PLACE RESTAURANT. TRUST ME---- U WONT B DISSAPOINTED AND I LIVE IN LA SO I DEFINETLY NO RESTAURANTS
Over priced food.. the food was way too over priced, garlic noodles were way too salty. the portions were too small. however, service made up for the mediocre food.
Too salty, too buttery, too little and too overpriced..
My girlfriend and I went on a late Friday night and the place was not busy. We ordered one dish of calamari, one plate of garlic noodles, and one of their famouse roasted crab. The calamari was way too salty and the crab was too buttery. The noodles tasted like any other noodles at any Chinese restaurants (just add garlic).
The service was great and we had an OK time. We don't mind paying the extra bucks for great dining but the truth of the matter is, this place lacks average portion and good food quality. I wouldn't mind paying for smaller portions if the taste was excellent, but unfortunately the overall taste was ok. Dungeness crab should never be priced at $35.00+ when you can get it cheaper at your local Chinese restaurant.
We definitely DO NOT recommend it.
My Favorite Restauratn. For the past 7 birthdays I have always made a trip to Thanh Long. All my friends and I LOVE Thanh Long...if anyone of us just mentions crab and garlic noodle...we think of only one place...Thanh Long. See you tomorrow! =)
Best Food in the World. This is the tastiest food in the world. The bartender is excellent as the well. But...The crab and noodles....enough said.
Best dining experience!. This is one of my favorite restaurants! No wait, great group setting, and decently priced. Every time I go there, I always order the same dishes: Peppered Crab, Garlic Noodles, and the Mango Salad.
Best roasted crad and garlic noodle in SF. If you like roasted crab and garlic noodle, this is the place. Excellent food. Service is great. Can't say anything more.
Fantastic Restaurant - Make Reservations!. Scrumdiliumptious. I attended a Birthday dinner at Than Long and enjoyed it tremendously. They are famous for thier Crab and Garlic Noodles which I found delish so be sure to order up and tie on the bib. Yummy appetizers and friendly waitstaff make each visit a pleasant one. Be sure to car pool as parking is difficult to find.
definitely worth a try..... i think the garlic noodles are now one of my favorite dishes in the city! the bartender in the evening is delightful, and the service, though impersonal, is really on the ball. it's a pretty casual place and i can't wait to get all the way across town to eat there again.
