In Short
Pale-green walls with red accents and a bustling open kitchen are consistent elements of this Bay Area mini-chain. Popular dishes include penne with sauteed eggplant, basil and fresh mozzarella, and primavera linguine with asparagus, broccoli, eggplant and tomato. Salads range from a grilled vegetable mix to a Caesar with pecorino cheese.

I am always weary of "chain" restaurants but I am glad I did not let that stop me from trying this place, several times. The food is reasonably priced, fresh, tasty what else can ya ask for? They are open till 11pm on some days which is very convenient. If you feel like some pasta but don't feel like visiting the North Beach Zoo give this place a try. All the taste without all the fanfare!

Used to love Pasta Pomodoro. Recently, they keep changing the menu (and raising the prices,) while the food gets worse and the portions get smaller. On our last visit, the food and service were HORRIBLE! I have the same problem with their Union St location. At this place though, the manager is extremely unfriendly and RUDE. The other big problem is that they close whenever they feel like it. For example, if they say they close at 10PM and you get there at 9:15, tough... if they're not busy they're going to close! Not very dependable... don't count on dining there. A while ago, it was worth it because the food was good and the prices were low, but now, I'd rather go to a real restaurant.

I am a fan of Pasta Pomodoro, but I never go back to this restaurant on Irving Street. Waiters are rude; they are busy chatting among them and they do not care about customers. I ordered vegetable dish with whole wheat penne. I made sure I want this with penne. When mine came, I had only vegetable portion. I ask them to add penne. They did add penne, but no apologize or anything. Since they are busy talking, they just want us to eat and leave. I rather go to another location, like on Market Street in Castro district. They are very polite and offer good services.
