Good green onion roll, sponge cakes. If you prefer the less sweet Chinese sponge cakes, this is probably the best bakery in the Sunset district for that. I think they make the best green onion/ham rolls in the area. The filling is savory and has plenty of ham & green onions compared to other bakeries who offer a mere sprinkling of meat/onions. I like their strawberry sponge cake and they're opened Thanksgiving Day so you can order their various pies - pumpkin, custard, orange, apple, etc, ahead of time for pick up. The most expensive pie is a mere $8.50. Their hot dog buns, BBQ pork buns and cocktail buns aren't bad either. That, plus a cup of Starbucks (block away) makes for a nice Sunday AM treat. Weekdays, the sm eating area is filled w/little old Asian men or contractors having breakfast before going off to work or activities. On weekends, it's little old ladies who convene there to socialize w/coffee and pastries. The bakery here is better than the one down the street on the opposite corner.

Great Prices and Taste Wonderful!. I had my wedding cake made fresh here. I had so many compliments about our strawberry cake I highly recommend trying this place. My nephew's baby shower cake was just as good and everyone loved it. Very Spongy Soft Cake with fresh fruits and light and creamy frosting.

A good wedding cake. I ordered my wedding cake here in 2004. What a value! I paid less than $250 for 5 tiers (mocha, fixed fruits and lemon custard) and they delivered on time! It is your typical chinese sponge cake, but it tasted great and looked good too.

Editorial Review. Chinese bakery supplies traditional sweet and savory buns as well as desserts, like cupcakes and fruit tarts, to the Inner Sunset.

Very good sponge cake here.. Finding a light but resiliant sponge cake has been difficult, but Sunset Bakery offers a very good version affordably. Their strawberry layer cake serves extremely well at any party. Other food items vary in quality, but most are decent.
