This place is good. I like this place. The prices are low, and they serve a few good fish dishes with curry. The food tends to be a bit home style, nothing too fancy. I am a bonafide Thai food snob. I've traveled through Thailand, grew up with food centered around Thai flavors, and have a picky palate when it comes to what I will eat and how much I will pay.
This place is down to earth and flavor always stands in where most other American Thai restaurants substitute flair. The simplicity of the cooking makes the dishes more authentic and the chefs are always open to creating tastes that will satisfy my picky palate.
If you want to taste what a plate of two-dollar pad thai on a Chiang Mai roadside or a Bangkok food stall is like, Bai Som is the place to go. Bai Som is easy, unprententious and good food at a great price. They also have a terrific catering menu with generous portions and low prices.
