What People Are Saying About Bok Choy Garden

In Short – Run by a friendly family that sticks to a strict vegan diet, this no-frills joint is the perfect standby for vegetarians and vegans craving Chinese. The dishes range from typical--sizzling rice soup--to unusual--sauteed green soybeans with tofu and seaweed or gluten puff with curry sauce. And while the spartan dining room and harsh flourescent lighting create a somewhat unromantic ambience, this is a reliable stop for a healthy, low-key meal.
I'm impressed

I am a meat eater, but I also like to try new cuisine. Bok Choy always has been well known in the City and has a great reputation for vegan. I decided to try it. The Taro Root Fish was incredible. Taro root, dipped in batter and fried, shaped like a large fish. Sweet and sour sauce on the side. Truly a world class dish. We also had the Beef Meat B*lls on skewers. These seemed to be portebella mushroom based, and were similar to normal veggie burgers. My friend liked them more than I did. As stated in the City Search's editorial review, this place is no frills. I am very picky about eating out. But I definitely would go back to try other dishes, because the Taro Root Fish truly was incredible.
- Pros: The food is good, service was very pleasant
- Cons: No frills atmosphere
try the crispy veggie duck and fried rice with seaweed and pinenuts

Great place for Chinese 'mock meats' and fresh veggie dishes. New owner since Nov. '06 Ken- very friendly and enthusiastic- has kept the most popular dishes, is adding new creations and is very open to suggestions and feedback. Fresh Jasmine tea and homemade lemonade with twist of lime are also very refreshing. Don't forget to also try the hot and sour soup! We are visitors and always stop here on our SF trips!!
Excellent Meatless Chicken, Great Svc
by pcaps
This is a great little place. The people are always pleasant and attentive. Both the veggie and soy/veggie meals are good, with the "meatless" chicken prepared to taste very similar to breaded, fried meat. Veggies, especially zuchini, are crisp and flavorful. The dumplings, however, are a bit too doughy and don't begin to touch Golden Era's. Overall, wonderful restaurant. Grab a meal before checking out a movie at the Four Star...
- Pros: Service, "Meatless" Chicken, Cool Location
- Cons: Dumplings
