In Short – Tourists pack this beachfront fry house and brewpub. Nearly every table has an ocean view, where guests can sip Ocean Beach Oktoberfest and nibble on buttermilk-fried calamari while watching the waves. The menu offers the usual traditional diner fare, such as burgers and wings, with some mildly exotic accents like marinated Atlantic salmon. Weekend brunch options include buttermilk pancakes, french toast and mushroom and spinach omelet.

Best Restaurant with a real view of the Pacific Ocean

by Smitty101 at Citysearch

The only restaurant that has great views of Ocean Beach. Downstairs there are socialistic murals on the walls and a giant 3-D map of Golden Gate Park in the middle. All the beers are thoughtfully crafted and the menu is extensive and the food well prepared. A perfect place to visit after a day in the park!

  • Pros: Excellent Beers & Good Food
  • Cons: Service...unless sitting at the bar!

Sad Sad Service and Attitudes

by Gonad at Citysearch

Before I start, I'd like to say on my behalf that I'm not particularly proud of how this ends and I'm NOT an easily angered person(I've NEVER done this before) After a 650 mi.,12 hr. drive from Portland OR. the day before to see a concert , I thought I'd stay for the weekend, site see and try a few local brews since I don't get to visit there much anymore(my hometown is 2 hrs away) Coming from the 21st Amendment, This is a great, friendly place, with great brews and sweet service. After a little site seeing on the way over to the beach I drove past this place and remembered their website, turned around and parked. I walked in, went upstairs and sat down. The place was busy. Waiting over 15min.,I tried to get the attention of one of the servers to no avail, so not really being in MUCH of a hurry, text friends and a friend called. A waiter came over " do you know what you want" I haven't received a menu yet, "so can I get you something to drink" yeah, an IPA. 15min. later a beer and menu arrive,I realize their busy BUT, this is ridiculous.10min later "are you ready to order" No, he leaves never to be seen again. 10min, another server comes over"are you ready" YES,I was getting hungry and didn't think I would get another chance, I've been here 1 1/2hrs(app),and only 1beer. 20min, finally food and beer arrive, It's great. Tried to get the check, she's no where to be found, I had to ask another to get it, this is beyond ridiculous now I'm being ignored and I'm finally beginning to get p###sed. Put my card w/the check and again nothing. Looked at my watch, Almost 2 1/2 hrs passed and now I have to take a pi## so I pull my card from the folder and walk downstairs, finish up, I walk out of the restroom and out the front door never to be seen there again. This establishments owners and managers really need to do something about the servers and their attitudes.

Great views, food is better than in the past

by foodielover at Citysearch

Came on a whim for Mother's Day w/o reservations and were able to get a table near the bar. The food is better than in the past and the menu has changed. The French toast was quite good with even better potatoes and 2 lean sausages. The Monte Cristo wasn't what I expected, with an over-easy egg, black forest ham and cheese between 2 toasted slices of Artisan bread which came with a good fruit salad. They were very busy for the day but service was nice and the staff checked on us several times. Planning to visit again in a month, this time with reservations so we can get a table with the ocean view!

  • Pros: Great view, parking lot, nice service, big groups can dine in the rear restaurant
  • Cons: Noisy
