Editorial Review for Green Apple Books & Music – by Marke Bieschke
In Short
This funky, homey store features new and used books--the latter category includes rare out-of-print volumes, as well as standards in paperback and hardback. Three stories are stacked floor to ceiling with volumes of ephemeral and essential knowledge. The store also features a wide selection of CDs (used and new) and vinyl recordings (mostly used). Prices are generally quite reasonable. Green Apple also houses giant collections of rare cookbooks, art monographs, graphic novels and kids' books.

One of my favorite things about Green Apple is their extensive Staff Favorite sections. I've been following their recommendations and they haven't steered me wrong yet! They have excellent prices that rival the big chains & their late night hours are super convenient.
Pros: Great recommendations, late hours, good prices
Cons: No parking

it's easy to be incredulous when everyone in the world seems to love this bookstore, but try as i may it's hard to find many flaws with it. the staff are awesome, knowledgable without being too sugary nice or apathetic like @ borders. when they don't know something, they tell you so. they're usually able to go out of their way to help you out. the selection is excellent. a few books may be priced a buck or two higher than other used stores in the city, but the selection and atmosphere make up for it. the store is also very intuitively laid out. one or two run throughs and you know the entire place up and down. their buyback policy is clear, and the credit/cash they give is extremely reasonable. finally, their used fiction section is amazingly good, and fairly priced. enjoy!
Pros: atmosphere, selection, price
Cons: more robust music
