Getting a table at this Inner Richmond standout may take an hour, but it's a wait many believe the food is worth. Once inside, asterisks on the menu highlight Burmese specialties, which you'll want to stick with for their exoticism and flavor (there are a few Chinese and Thai dishes as well). The revered salads contain 10 or more ingredients each, exemplified by the wonderfully textured tea leaf version, which features tomatoes, dried shrimp, fried garlic, sesame seeds and peanuts. A spicy samusa soup--perhaps the most well-known of the restaurant's signature dishes--overflows with fried potatoes, falafel and lentils. And while there are many carniverous delights--chicken, beef, lamb, pork and seafood all have a home here--the eatery is also a vegetarian's delight; what isn't already labeled veggie can often be prepared sans meat.

Sought this place out with my sister, who'd been before and knew about getting there before 5:30. Absolutely true. We got right in, and watched a horde form outside our window table. The food was stupendous. Flavors and combinations unlike anything I've had anywhere. Service excellent and informative, friendly, energetic staff. The decor is gorgeous. Topnotch

This experience was a downright waste of our time. Long wait of over an hour. Small and overly crowded place. Also noticed how close the Bathroom to the Kitchen. Disgusting. In addition to all of the above....they will not allow you to sit next to your Fiance. My Fiance and I were asked to sit across from each others instead of sitting next to one another. I could not believe it. We asked if other Patrons have complained and they told us no. for a moment I thought I was in a Talaban territory. We asked for the manger but were told the same thing. We have waited in the rain and cold for over an hour, paid for parking to be told that I could not sit next to my Fiance. We have decided to leave this place instead. SF has plenty of great places to eat and with great service. This is clearly not worth it. NOT RECOMMENDED At All.

We ordered take out because we had heard that if you don't get there at 5:30, you'll be waiting for at least an hour. We arrived at 8:00 to pick up our food and there was an hour and a half wait. The staff was very friendly. They got our order right. We ordered the Mango beef, the beef was chewy and the sauce was too sugary. We also tried the Nan Gyi Dok, it was ok, a little slimey. Both dishes left us feeling greasy and wondering what all the hype is about? Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes, but we won't be returning to try it out again.
