Home of one of the best turkey sandwiches in town. Ask for a little turkey skin, and a mix of dark and white. Dutch crunch, duh.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Known for its fresh rotisserie turkeys (and more notably, the deli sandwiches that it makes with them), this market is a popular standby for USF students and a default for overpriced groceries, due largely to a lack of options in the area. Although the carved turkey sandwiches are widely considered to be some of the best of their kind and the selection of Indian and English groceries is solid, this mom-and-pop shop seems to rest on its laurels. With protracted wait times for walk-ins and call-ins alike--and surly, unapologetic service to accompany them--curious minds wonder how the market manages to keep such a loyal following. Nevertheless, it does, and the nearby residents seem happy to indulge in the convenience.
Not just another hole in the wall. Yes-- it's just a small neighborhood market, but the secret here is that they make the BEST fresh turkey sandwiches in town. They constantly have several turkeys turning on a rotisserie, and when you order a sandwich, they will cut off pieces to your specification. Delish!! Plus, the proprietors are friendly, the place is bright and clean, they have an interesting (small) selection of imported british and indian products, and a few decent cheeses to go with the fresh semifreddi baguettes. This is not a place to do your weekly shopping, but it is a great little place to stock up for a simple, tasty picnic in nearby GG Park.
