In Short – Bright lights beckon from this hipster hangout situated across from Amoeba. Inside, the decor feels new age and spacey with oval mirrors and halo-resembling cutouts hanging from the ceiling. Known for innovative hair coloring, you can pattern your hair after a cheetah, frost your tips like a chocolate-dipped strawberry, or just plain dye it--silver if you want. Consultations are included with each appointment.

Best Stylist in San Francisco

by tear4mystic at Citysearch

I have not found a better stylist in 15 years. I started having Shaun Farmer cut my hair about 8 years ago. Since then he has been cutting all my friends hair. He is great at make over’s, new cuts, and haircuts that are cutting edge. I have really curly out of control hair. He know just how to texture my hair to get it to lay just right. When it comes to color, he does a fantastic job. Regardless of what color you want or the amount of colors (I have had as many as five) he does a fabulous job! I flew from Seattle to San Francisco for this hair cut because he moved. I will return in March for another hair cut because it is definitely worth the flight!

When I came to work Monday morning everyone asked me who cut hair. My answer is always the same.. Shaun did! and he is truly fabulous!

LAUREN IS A BLONDE WIZARD!

by camille79 at Citysearch

After years of disappointing colorists who were unable to match a shade of blonde to my olive skin and stylists who cut a half a foot of chunky layers off my hair farm, i was finally referred to Lauren by a friend. She is a BLONDE WIZARD! And, she gives me a fantastic cut every time as well. Not an over the top glamorous one (because that's just not me), but naturally beautiful because she knows i can't be hassled with product and blow-drying. Last time i went in, she said she was moving to a salon called Head and Soul. I will follow her wherever her career takes her. Thanks Lauren! You're my saving grace!

  • Pros: lauren is also the best shampoo scalp massage i have ever had!
  • Cons: the bathroom is tiny and awkward.

my hair belongs to AMBER!

by erka_cha at Citysearch

Ever since my aunt decided to pop out babies and stop doing hair I've been on a never-ending search for the right hair stylist. It's been about 4 years and I have been to a different stylist every time. They've ranged from horrible to mediocre with hairstyles ranging from bowl cut to dog show hair. The last, last lady I went to gave me the ugliest, unflattering, and BLUNT layers I have ever seen. I was scared that my hair was beyond repair, (I wanted to fix it, but somehow keep the length) but heard many good things about Amber at Bladerunners, soo I decided to schedule an appointment. I don't know how she did it, but not only did she fix my hair, I actually ended up loving the cut! I don't even remember the last time I loved my hair after an appointment. I live in Los Angeles now, but I will forever be faithful to Amber until she decides to start popping out babies.

BEST SHAMPOO EVER! GREAT HAIR CUT TOO!

by curlynotmoe at Citysearch

After ten years or not having a hair cut, my best friend finally talked me into going ot her stylist Tony at Bladerunners. It took some convincing being as how they charge $70 for a haircut and I'd never paid more than $15. I've been going there for the past year ever since. Tony is fantastic, I absolutely love my hair cut, he's pleasant, and I'm always a very satisfied customer.

Most importantly though, and I was NOT expecting this when I first went, when Joseph aka Joe, shampoo'd my hair, he gave me the most amazing head massage ever. That alone made it worth the trip out to the city (I live on the peninsula) and worth the $70. Joe is amazing, he also styles and blowdries my hair out after every cut, or you can request him specifially just to blowdry your hair or do your color. Needless to say, he is my regular person now as he is great! He always takes his time and makes my hair look fabulous. I don't even have to specify what I want because I know that whatever he does I will love. If you're looking for a good hair cut, go see Tony, and if you just want a RED HOT style for a night on the town, along w/ the most awesome head massage EVER, see Joe. You WON'T be disappointed. Bladerunners Salon ROCKS!

  • Pros: Great staff
  • Cons: Parking
