4 years of hair compliments and counting!. April is my Wak Shack anniversary month, so to celebrate I thought I'd offer a review. For 4 years now I've had nothing but exceptional cuts and fantastic color here--the kind where women literally stop me on the street to find out where I get my hair done. Simon was my guy for years, but after he moved southward (LA ladies: find him now before he gets famous) I've taken up with Filomena. She is lovely to work with and such a skilled stylist. She listens to my ideas but applies her expertise so that the result suits my face shape and hair type. I've had to put color on hold for a while, but even on my lean budget cutting out Filomena is just not an option. (Pun intended!) My only note is that I do spend longer in the salon than I used to--close to an hour and a half all said and done. But it's a fair trade in my book for the awesome cut I know I'll walk out with.

Be Careful of Who You Ask For.... I would have given the wak shack five stars had it been on my past experience, however this week I went and was very disappointed. I had been in and seen Simon before he left the salon and was very satisfied and excited with how he did my hair. He recommended I go to Filomena or Kat after he left. I saw Filomena and I found her hair cutting very similar to Simon's, very specific to my hair, face shape and very meticulous. I left feeling very good about my haircut and myself. I went and saw Kat this week, and was unimpressed. Although she was very nice and easy to talk to, her technique was far below that of the other stylists I had seen. My hair is now too short and not in a style I particularly like. I can't wait for my hair to grow out, which is not the way I wished to feel leaving the salon. I wanted to leave wishing my hair wouldn't grow too fast so that it would look that good for a while, like I had on my previous visits.

I have never left here without a smile on my face!. I have never gotten anything but awesome haircuts here! I have been going here for a few years and have used Erin, Simon and Kendra and they have all done excellent jobs. I have given the most general of descriptions and they have always given me exactly what I wanted and then some. Sadly Simon, who was my most current hairdresser, is no longer there but I had the opportunity or working with Kendra and she rocks! I think that was the best hair cut I have ever got! Look no further this is the best place in San Francisco!

Best Hair in Town. I love this place. I travel from the East Bay to go here, which anyone who drives the Bay Bridge at 5pm knows how hard this can be, but it is definitely worth it. I have been going here for over 6 years now, and i have never had a bad experience here. Every stylist does quality work, is SUPER friendly, and knows what they are doing. They do amazing color, fabulous extensions, and the best Updo's around. Many of my friends have gone here to get their wedding hair done, as well as their entire bridal party. I even got my boyfriend hooked on this place. Very relaxing atmosphere, as well as kick butt music, and you'll get the best haircut of your life. Come check out this place. Its the bees knees!

I cried after my hair cut. I explained to the man what I wanted very thoroughly and he reassured me that he would give me a cool, hip cut. I left with a hair cut that looked exactly the same as when I came but shorter. Very disappointed.

Best Hair....EVER!!!. I had always seen this salon when I was walking by and thought it looked cute from the outside. When I finally went in for the first time I was amazed at how big the place actually was, with three rooms including a full service esthetician room and also patio in back.

The hair cut I had by Simon was one of the best I've ever gotten. I'm trying to grow my hair out but it was definatly time for a trim and he was great about giving me a new shape and hip style that will grow out nicely (without looking shaggy!) Filomena did my color fabulously, I have three colors in my hair and she did a great job making everything look bright and vivid and kept the colors from bleeding together. She was very funny and friendly as well. I also have seen Kendra for a blowout style for a special occasion and she did such a good job. She realloy listened to me and gave me exactilly what I wanted.

For the esthetician work I have seen both Heather and Grace for various waxing procedures and I have to say they are both fantastic. Very gentle and professional which is great..especailly if it's your first time!

As a whole my experiences at the WAK Shack are always fun and I leave looking ready for the runway! THANKS WAK SHACK!!!!

Filomena is the queen!. I'm one of those women who never liked going to the hair salon. The 3 or 4 times I had paid top dollar for a haircut I walked out looking a wreck -- hair cut much shorter than I asked, poofy layers I didn't want, and lots of other lame results. I always thought I "just had bad hair" and I'd never experience that glorious feeling some women seem to have when they leave the salon. So I avoided hairdressers at all costs.

But Filomena at the Wak Shack changed me! A friend gave her the highest recommendation, and now I give you, dear reader, mine! She clearly knows hair! All types, but she seems to be especially good with thick, wavy hair. She also understands how certain haircuts compliment certain face shapes and personal styles. She gave me the exact cut I had always dreamed of having. I couldn't believe how incredible my hair looked and how easy it has been since then to care for it. It looks great whether or not I blowdry and style it. This is a first for me and I only have her (and Wak Shack) to thank. I'm definitely going back to her every 6 weeks.

Prices are very reasonable... which will allow you to give Filomena a big tip!

I walked right in and it was great!. i had read good reviews about this place, so i had to try it. i walked in and they had an appointment for me in less than an hour. the receptionist was really nice and enthusiastic about her job. i came in with a slight idea of what i wanted. kendra cut my hair and it came out exactly like what i wanted without really knowing what that was! i loved it. the place itself has a hawaiin theme, and most of the people who work there are pretty funky. the only annoying part is that they have to promote the products they use, and actually give you a checklist of what to buy when you leave, which isnt really a big deal. id recommend this place for sure.
