A independent shop off the beaten path that sells a unique collection of cheap, handpicked used furnishings..
In Short
Tucked in a quiet block off Haight Street is Mickey's Monkey, a storefront that disgorges its generally fantastic collection of chairs, dressers, and tables onto the sidewalk. Its motto, "Decorate for Less," is generally true, though prices have risen in the last year or so. The inside--where the little treasures are kept--is a cramped space smelling of incense and packed with oddities. If you're lucky, a scratchy Edith Piaf record will be lamenting broken hearts from the corner.
quirky furniture, bad service. this little place has charm and some interesting stuff along with some kitch. If you don't mind being called honey or sweetheart by the owner as he re-negotiates prices and asks you "how much do you work for" then this place might work for you. overall the prices are above reasonable but below outlandish. the cheap delivery prices quoted above are just not true, at one point the owner suggested a $40 delivery price for one piece of furniture.
Great kitch. Lower Haight used-funriture store has a great selection of old furniture and even greater selection of cheap decor. Lamps, mirrors, weird dolls, old phones, and kitch galore.
