In Short – The front room houses an exquisite circular bar that can seat a dozen. A beautifully painted Persian fairytale scene hangs directly above the liquor and bottled beers, which include Boont, Stella and Corona. In the equally petite back room, walls are paneled with tapestries and a quadrant of tables lets couples or small groups chat the night away in candlelight.

If you blink, youll walk right by this place so look for it. Small, social bar with an interesting mix of patrons. James and Julia (hopefully they still work there!) are two of the nicest, most attentive bartenders around. These two are definitely not full of themselves like other bartenders in the city as they make you feel very welcomed. This is a fun, throwback place with a cool look, fun jukebox and killer martinis! Posers: please stay away!
- Pros: great drinks, friendly service
GREAT Service!

I'm not sure why this place had poor reviews. We went there the other night and had very good, attentive service. Perhaps this particular bartender whom people complained of is no longer there? Anyhow, this place is so comfortable, classy and serves quality cocktails. If you like a romantic setting (although still fun to go w/friends), great tunes such as Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, etc. I highly recommend it. Compared to all the dives (& I do frequent "dives" and am a fan) this is a great alternative.
horrible experience...

my five friends and i went to have dinner near this bar. as we passed by it looked less crowded than the other bars around and so we decided to stop by after dinner for drinks. we stood by the bar for ten minutes with no acknowledgement from the bartender. we were all standing right behind the row of people sitting at the bar!! the bartender even walked right through our crowd to get to the closet to get more alcohol and NOTHING! never even said he'll be right with us. he was the rudest bartender i've ever met and my friends and i vowed to never go back again and want others to know about our experience!!
- Cons: bad bartenders, rude staff
Never again...

the one bar tender was slow and rude. place was barely filled and he couldn't get us our drinks within 10 minutes. not worth going to.
- Pros: none
- Cons: slow and rude staff, small and empty
weekday wonderful

a gorgeous bar and an equally as alluring jukebox full of chet baker, miles, coleman hawkins, etc. however, I've had two different experiences at the zam zam: a weeknight with a great barkeep, and regardless of what other reviewers have said, lots of fetching ladies. Then a friday night with a rude woman behind the bar and too many marina types crowding the place. a nice place for a date.
- Pros: aesthetic, jukebox
- Cons: too small, high prices
